Full Job Description

Overview
We are hiring multiple CNC Machinists across junior and senior skill bands for our Tempe and Chandler locations. This is a high-mix, low-volume precision shop supporting aerospace and defense programs. Expect complex prints, frequent and sometimes unproven prototype setups, and tight tolerances where details matter—because these parts go into mission-critical systems tied to national security, not consumer products.

We’re experiencing strong growth and are building a balanced crew of developing talent and seasoned 5-axis experts. Machinists here don’t just run parts—they run the process. You’ll own work from setup through final inspection, applying GD&T, managing tooling and offsets, making smart program adjustments, and troubleshooting until you’re confident the job is right. We value people who bring strong machining fundamentals, think clearly under pressure, and take pride in clean, repeatable work.

We are hiring for 1st and 2nd shift at both facilities and offer 10+ hours/week of overtime (always available, never required). If you want a shop where your skill and judgment matter—and where you can build a long-term career in aerospace—let’s talk.

Compensation

Junior Machinist: $26 - $34 / hr
Senior / 5-Axis Machinist: $32 - $38 / hr
2nd Shift Differential: 10% additional

Shifts & Overtime

1st Shift: Monday – Friday, Morning Start (e.g., 6:00am – 2:30pm)
2nd Shift: Monday – Friday, 3:00pm – 12:30am
Overtime: 10+ hours / week always available for those who want it (rarely required for those who don't).
Earning potential: up to $90k - $120k+ / year depending on level and overtime worked.

Responsibilities

Depending on your skill level and role (Junior Mill/Lathe vs. Senior 5-Axis), you will be responsible for:

Setting up and operating CNC mills, lathes, and/or large-format 5-axis milling centers in a precision, prototype, and job-shop environment.
Running work end-to-end: from blueprint interpretation and setup to first article prove-out, validation, and final run.
Interpreting complex blueprints, routings, and engineering models, applying standard to advanced GD&T to ensure parts meet critical functional requirements.
Selecting tooling and building effective workholding strategies (including strict attention to 5-axis machine kinematics, tool clearances, and collision avoidance for senior roles).
Performing rigorous in-process and final inspections using micrometers, indicators, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments to hold tight tolerances (including tenths-level features).
Reading, writing, and confidently editing CNC programs (feeds/speeds, multi-axis offsets, tool comp, and G/M-code edits) to maintain quality and throughput.
Collaborating directly with engineering in the design, development, and evaluation of new products, recommending modifications to improve manufacturability.
Troubleshooting dimensional, tooling, and process issues to restore quality and dial in both proven and unproven/experimental parts.
Documenting manufactured quantities and process adjustments accurately utilizing the ERP system.

Qualifications

We are hiring for two primary profiles and will align level and pay to demonstrated capability.

Junior CNC Machinist:

This profile is ideal for a machinist with strong fundamentals who is ready to take the next step in an aerospace environment.

3+ years of CNC machining experience in a precision environment.
Strong ability to independently set up jobs (tooling, offsets, workholding, first article approach) on standard mills and/or lathes.
Confidence reading and interpreting complex prints and applying standard GD&T.
Proven experience holding tight tolerances and verifying them with manual inspection tools.
Ability to read CNC programs and make practical adjustments (speeds/feeds, tool wear management, minor G/M-code edits).
Strong documentation habits, a steady safety-minded approach, and a quality-first mindset.

Senior / 5-Axis CNC Machinist:

This profile is for a true setup expert who can take on highly complex, unproven prototype work on advanced machinery and dial it in efficiently.

5+ years of CNC machining experience in a precision environment, with direct experience on 5-axis mills and large-format machinery.
Strong ability to set up complex jobs completely independently (tooling, multi-axis offsets, advanced workholding, first article prove-out).
High-level confidence interpreting highly complex blueprints and applying advanced GD&T.
Fluency in reading and writing G/M-code and making practical adjustments at the control to optimize processes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot dimensional or tooling issues on the fly, including managing tool clearances for 5-axis motion.
Ability to collaborate directly with engineers on design modifications and process improvements.
