JOB SUMMARY
Cyrex Laboratories is seeking a Laboratory Technologist who will provide support in the clinical laboratory by assisting with procedures under direct supervision. A successful applicant will have the ability to work independently and in a team environment, follow detailed written and verbal instructions, and have a bachelor’s degree in a life science field. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties include preanalytical, analytical, and postanalytical processes and are performed under supervision.
1. Perform high-complexity immunological testing, including ELISA, nephelometric, and flow cytometric assays.
2. Assist with the preparation of chemicals, and reagents.
3. Recording results in the LIM system.
4. Assist with the operation and maintenance of selected laboratory equipment.
5. Assist with instrument preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
6. Monitor quality control criteria and instrument maintenance/performance and file corrective action forms when discrepancies occur.
7. Clean, organize, and maintain work area.
8. Perform other departmental tasks such as filing, generating reports, requisitions/other paperwork.
9. Assist with supply monitoring, ordering, inventory, and storage to ensure adequate supply.
10. Communicate information/problems to appropriate individuals within and across shifts.
11. Assist in training new Laboratory Technologists by demonstrating necessary laboratory skills and procedures.
12. Participates in annual proficiency and competency evaluation requirements.
13. Always follow appropriate safety practices in the laboratory.
14. Follow company guidelines and regulations.
15. Any other duties for which the General Supervisor has made the Laboratory Technologist a Designee.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
1. REQUIRED: The Laboratory Technologist must have at minimum a bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology.
2. PREFERRED: One-year laboratory experience and/or training preferred.
3. PREFERRED: ELISA/Immunology experience preferred.
SKILLS
1. Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures, and policy manuals.
2. Write routine reports and correspondence.
3. Communicate effectively in English with other team members (written and verbal).
4. Basic mathematical skills through Algebra 2.
5. Basic computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
6. Ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions.
7. Ability to deal with common workplace problems and provide recommendations/solutions.
