Job Title: Solids Control Technician — Oil & Gas

Location: Wyoming, Utah, North Dakota, Montana, Colorado— On-site, rotational (e.g. 14/14)
Employment Type: Full-time

About Us:
DCT Energy/ Solid Edge Technologies provides drilling fluids and solids control services to upstream oil & gas operators. We focus on safe, efficient removal and management of drilling solids to optimize drilling performance and protect equipment and the environment.

Role Summary:
The Solids Control Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting solids control equipment at drilling sites to ensure effective separation of cuttings from drilling fluid (mud), maintain fluid properties, and comply with safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate and monitor solids control equipment: shale shakers, desanders, desilters, mud cleaners, centrifuges, hydrocyclones, and associated screens and conveyors.
Set up, align, and commission solids control systems on rig locations; ensure proper flow paths and equipment anchoring.
Conduct routine maintenance and basic repairs (screen changes, pump checks, bearing/lubrication, gasket/piping replacement).
Sample and test drilling fluid properties (mud weight, viscosity, pH, solids content) and report results to the mud engineer or supervisor.
Adjust equipment settings and treatment methods to maintain target fluid properties and optimize solids removal.
Monitor cuttings handling and conveyance systems; ensure proper disposal or transport in compliance with site and regulatory procedures.
Keep accurate logs, equipment checklists, and maintenance records; report incidents and non-conformances.
Follow and enforce HSE policies: permit-to-work, confined space, lockout/tagout, PPE, and spill response.
Assist in inventory management of screens, spare parts, consumables, and chemicals.
Communicate with rig crew, supervisors, mud engineers, and third-party service providers.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma or trade certification preferred.
Familiarity with basic mechanical skills.
Ability to work in rotating schedules, remote locations, and harsh environmental conditions.
Valid driver’s license.
Strong safety mindset and ability to follow procedures.
Good communication skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.

Desired Skills:

Experience with centrifuge and decanting equipment operation and troubleshooting.
Understanding of drilling fluid chemistry and treatment techniques.
Basic electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting skills.
Experience with rigsite monitoring software and reporting tools.
