About the Role

The Lead Cabinet Engineer is a key member of the Moore’s Custom Cabinets management team, reporting directly to the Director of Operations. This position holds full management authority over the project management team — including hiring, performance reviews, and personnel decisions — and is responsible for coordinating all aspects of project detailing from initial design through production release. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in cabinet engineering and CNC operations with the leadership skills to drive a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities

Fully manage the project management team, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
Serve as a member of the company management team and report directly to the Director of Operations.
Coordinate all aspects of project detailing, ensuring accurate and timely engineering packages from concept through shop release.
Develop and approve detailed cabinet drawings, shop drawings, and cut lists using Cabinet Vision and CAD software.
Oversee CNC programming and operations, including writing and editing G-code to optimize machine performance and output quality.
Maintain department-wide engineering standards, drawing templates, and documentation practices.
Collaborate closely with design, production and installation teams to ensure projects meet client specifications, timelines, and budget requirements.
Troubleshoot engineering, fit, and production issues, providing practical and timely solutions.
Drive continuous improvement in workflow efficiency, software utilization, and team performance.
Coordinate with purchasing on material and hardware specifications to support project schedules.

Required Qualifications

7+ years of experience in cabinet engineering or architectural millwork with a focus on residential kitchen and bath.
Proven experience in a management or supervisory role with direct authority over personnel decisions.
Advanced proficiency in Cabinet Vision.
Proficiency in CAD software for shop drawings and detail production.
Extensive knowledge of CNC machine operation and programming, including hands-on G-code writing and editing.
Deep understanding of cabinet construction methods, joinery, hardware systems, and install standards.
Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, floor plans, and elevations.
Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple active projects simultaneously.
Must be able to work on-site full-time at our Tolar, TX facility.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in drafting, engineering technology, industrial design, or a related field — or equivalent experience.
Experience with nesting software and CNC optimization workflows.
Background in a custom shop.
