Full Job Description

Better Ways Accounting | In-Office | Full-Time

Better Ways Accounting is a fast-growing accounting firm serving small business owners through monthly memberships. We’re building a modern, system-driven firm focused on delivering proactive financial and tax strategy - not just compliance.

We’re looking for a Tax Lead to take full ownership of our tax function.

This is not a typical tax role. You will be responsible for both:

executing tax filings across our client base
designing and delivering proactive tax strategies that create real savings for our clients

What You’ll Own

Prepare and review a wide range of tax returns: S-Corps, Partnerships, LLCs, and Individual (1040s)
Own the tax filing process end-to-end
Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant filings
Lead tax planning and strategy small business clients
Identify opportunities for: entity optimization, deductions, tax minimization strategies
Partner with accounting and client success teams to ensure alignment
Build and improve internal tax systems and workflows
Be the final escalation point for tax-related questions

What We’re Looking For

3+ years of tax experience
Strong experience with:
small business tax (S-corps, partnerships)
individual returns tied to business owners
Ability to work independently and make decisions confidently
Someone who can own problems, not escalate them
Experience with tax planning (not just compliance)
Strong communication skills with clients
Systems thinker — can improve processes, not just follow them

This Role Is NOT For Someone Who

Needs constant direction
Only wants to prepare returns
Avoids client interaction
Is uncomfortable making judgment calls

What Success Looks Like

You fully own the tax function within 90 days
Tax season runs smoothly
Clients receive proactive tax strategies (not just filings)
You identify and implement tax savings opportunities across the client base

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
