Veterinary Receptionist – Full-Time & Part-Time

Affordable Animal Hospital – Whittier, CA

Affordable Animal Hospital in Whittier, California is hiring full-time and part-time experienced Veterinary Receptionists.

Weekend availability is required. Applicants must be available to work either Saturday or Sunday.

The primary responsibility of a Veterinary Receptionist is to provide exceptional customer service to every client and pet who visits our hospital.

We are looking for individuals with outstanding customer service, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Veterinary Receptionists play a critical role in creating a positive client experience and helping the hospital operate efficiently.

Strong communication skills are essential, as this position requires frequent interaction with clients, veterinarians, and fellow team members. The ideal candidate is comfortable multitasking, handling a busy phone system, scheduling appointments, processing payments, and assisting clients in a fast-paced veterinary hospital.

Veterinary Receptionist Responsibilities

Welcome clients and their pets in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner
Answer incoming calls and route calls according to hospital protocols
Schedule appointments, surgeries, and procedures
Maintain accurate patient records by obtaining, recording, and updating client and patient information
Retrieve and file medical records as needed
Process payments and maintain accurate financial records
Handle incoming and outgoing emails, mail, and other correspondence
Assist clients with prescription refill requests
Build and present treatment plans and estimates
Check in patients, obtain accurate weights, and escort clients to exam rooms
Communicate effectively with veterinarians and support staff regarding patient care and client concerns
Resolve client questions and concerns professionally and accurately
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception and exam room areas
Process end-of-day reports and assist with deposits as needed
Help maintain smooth and efficient hospital flow throughout the day

Qualifications

Must be available to work Saturday or Sunday
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Professional, friendly, and compassionate attitude
Ability to remain calm and professional when handling difficult or concerned clients
Experience with Avimark veterinary practice management software preferred
Previous veterinary receptionist experience preferred
Minimum of one (1) year of customer service experience required
Two (2) years of veterinary clinic or animal care experience preferred but not required
