We are seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist & Clinical Training Specialist to assist Dr. Elist during Himplant® procedures and support the training of physicians, surgical technologists, nurses, and operating room teams at Himplant® provider locations.
This is a hands-on operating room role with a strong training and travel component. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in OR setup, sterile technique, instrumentation, surgical workflow, and physician support, and is comfortable traveling to other surgical locations for provider training and case support.
Position Summary
The Surgical Technologist & Clinical Training Specialist will work directly with Dr. Elist to support Himplant® surgical procedures and help train other provider teams on the proper setup, preparation, instrumentation, sterile workflow, and operating room support required for the Himplant® procedure.
This role requires regular travel to provider locations for training, onboarding, live case support, and operating room team education. Candidates must be willing and able to travel domestically, and potentially internationally, as needed.
Surgical First Assistant experience or certification is preferred but not required. Candidates with advanced hands-on surgical assisting experience are encouraged to apply.
Key ResponsibilitiesSurgical Support with Dr. Elist
Assist Dr. Elist during Himplant® procedures.
Prepare the operating room, sterile field, instruments, implants, supplies, and equipment before each case.
Maintain sterile technique and support safe, efficient surgical workflow.
Anticipate the surgeon’s needs throughout the procedure.
Handle instruments, supplies, and implant-related materials according to established protocol.
Assist with patient positioning, room preparation, case flow, room turnover, and post-procedure breakdown as appropriate.
Confirm required instruments, implants, supplies, and equipment are available before each case.
Support consistency, organization, and efficiency in the OR.
Himplant® Provider Training Support
Assist Dr. Elist and Himplant® leadership during provider training sessions.
Help train surgical technologists, nurses, first assistants, and OR staff at Himplant® provider locations.
Educate OR teams on Himplant® room setup, sterile field organization, instrument flow, implant preparation, case workflow, and surgical support expectations.
Support live training cases and help ensure the provider’s OR team understands the required process.
Reinforce standardized Himplant® protocols across all provider locations.
Help identify training gaps and recommend improvements.
Travel to Provider Locations
Travel is a required part of this role.
Travel to Himplant® provider locations for surgical training, onboarding, operating room preparation, live case support, and follow-up training.
Work on-site with physicians, nurses, surgical technologists, and surgery center staff to prepare them for Himplant® cases.
Represent Himplant® professionally in hospitals, surgery centers, and physician practices.
Assist with pre-training preparation, site readiness, and post-training evaluation.
Help troubleshoot OR setup, instrumentation, supply, workflow, or staff training issues at provider sites.
Travel may include domestic and potentially international locations, depending on business needs.
Candidates must be comfortable with overnight travel, variable schedules, and occasional short-notice travel when needed.
Advanced Assisting Duties
Surgical First Assistant experience or certification is preferred but not required.
Candidates with first-assist training may assist with advanced hands-on tasks when qualified, credentialed, and permitted by facility policy, applicable law, and surgeon direction.
Advanced assisting duties may include exposure, retraction, suctioning, visualization support, hemostasis assistance, tissue handling, or closure support when appropriate and permitted.
All advanced surgical assisting duties must be performed only under surgeon supervision and within the candidate’s legal and credentialed scope of practice.
Training Documentation and Process Improvement
Assist in developing and improving Himplant® surgical training materials.
Help create OR setup guides, supply checklists, surgical tech checklists, training documents, and provider onboarding materials.
Document observations from provider training cases and site visits.
Provide feedback to Himplant® leadership on provider readiness, OR workflow, and training needs.
Help build a repeatable Himplant® training process for future provider expansion.
Required Qualifications
Experience as a Surgical Technologist in an operating room setting.
Certified Surgical Technologist.
Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, OR setup, case flow, and room turnover.
Ability to assist surgeons and anticipate surgical needs during procedures.
Willingness and ability to travel regularly for provider training and surgical support.
Comfortable with overnight travel and variable schedules.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Professional demeanor when working with physicians, nurses, surgical teams, and administrators.
Highly organized and detail-oriented.
Comfortable working in men’s health and sensitive surgical procedures.
Ability to follow standardized protocols precisely.
Ability to represent Himplant® professionally at provider sites.
Preferred Qualifications
Surgical First Assistant experience or certification preferred.
Experience in urology, plastic surgery, reconstructive surgery, implant surgery, outpatient surgery, or men’s health preferred.
Experience training surgical staff or onboarding new OR teams.
Experience working with ambulatory surgery centers or physician-owned surgical facilities.
Medical device training or clinical education experience.
Experience creating or following SOPs, surgical checklists, or training materials.
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
Travel Requirements
This role requires regular travel to Himplant® provider locations.
Travel may be required for provider onboarding, physician training, OR team training, live surgical case support, site readiness, and follow-up visits.
Candidates must be able to travel domestically and potentially internationally as needed. Overnight travel will be required. Travel frequency may vary based on surgical schedules, provider training needs, and company expansion plans.
Travel expenses will be covered or reimbursed according to company policy.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a skilled and reliable surgical technologist who is comfortable in the operating room, confident around physicians, organized with instruments and supplies, and capable of teaching other OR team members.
This person should be calm under pressure, highly professional, discreet, detail-oriented, and willing to travel. The right candidate will become an important part of Himplant®’s clinical training infrastructure and help ensure that provider teams are properly prepared to support Himplant® procedures.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
