About Us

Southern California Medical Center is a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center committed to providing high-quality, compassionate healthcare to our communities. We are seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Temp Medical Records / Patient Services Representative to join our team.

Position Summary

The Medical Records / Patient Services Representative is responsible for providing excellent customer service while supporting both front office operations and medical records functions. This role serves as the first point of contact for patients and ensures the accurate handling of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Greet and assist patients in a courteous and professional manner.
Answer and direct incoming phone calls.
Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
Register patients and verify demographic and insurance information.
Process patient check-in and check-out.
Maintain and update electronic medical records.
Process medical records requests while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
Scan, upload, index, and organize patient documentation into the electronic health record.
Coordinate with providers and clinical staff regarding patient documentation.
Respond to requests from patients, providers, insurance companies, and other healthcare facilities.
Maintain accurate filing and record retention practices.
Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of one year of experience in a medical office, patient services, front desk, or medical records role preferred.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical record confidentiality.
Experience with Nexgen.
Strong understanding of medical terminology preferred.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
