STONE VALLEY ARTS AT FOX HILL is searching for a part-time EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR (Independent Contractor).
The Executive Director will work closely with the SVA Board of Directors to continue SVA’s visibility and relevance as a sustainable, inclusive and progressive arts organization within the town of Poultney, Rutland County, Vermont and beyond.
More specifically the Executive Director will be responsible for the following:
1. Oversee strategic planning, finance, budgeting, operations and implementation.
2. Provide leadership and supervision to staff and volunteers and foster a positive working culture.
3. Share responsibility with board members for the following:
- Establish strategic visions for the next 5 years and incremental steps toward the achievement of those goals, given the variables of the moment with regard to available fiscal, physical, and human resources.
- Identify, write, and follow-through with prospective grants. The finance committee/treasurer will provide proper financial documents associated with both grant applications and grant reporting requirements.
- Propose, identify, and plan opportunities for special events geared toward building community and increasing funds.
- Create opportunities for connecting to the public that are not appeals for donations (e.g. mid-season update via email &/or print newsletters, report for Poultney Town Meeting, depending upon the available funds)
- Create a more comprehensive marketing plan that includes print (paid ads, flyers...), social media, website, etc.
- Create a process of capturing donor information (who, how much, and updated contact) to assist in creating timely thank you notes, as well as in monitoring raised income.
- Identify and cultivate donors, foundations, sponsors.
- Shares programming responsibilities with board members; certain areas are programmed by individuals or groups of board members, and certain areas of programming are handled by the executive director.
- Maintains regular contact and reports to the board president (or designate), including regular meetings and planning and debriefing sessions for continued improvement of processes, procedures, planning, and efficiency
4. Organizing 2 Fundraising Letters.
5. Organizing 2 Fundraising Events* (With board/volunteer involvement for these to take place)
TERMS OF CONTRACT: Now through December 1, 2026
QUALIFICATIONS: non-profit leadership experience, passion for the Arts, excellent communication and public speaking skills, experience in grant writing, fundraising, financial management. Occasional evening and weekends required.
COMPENSATION: TBD with experience.
