Job Overview
The Seamstress will work with pre-woven fabrics to produce high-quality finished products. The Seamstress will collaborate closely with the Weaving Studio manager to determine production needs, product specifications, and timelines. Responsibilities include cutting, sewing, assembling, and finishing products according to designated designs and quality standards. Attention to detail, consistency in workmanship, and the ability to communicate clearly about progress, materials, and any production issues are essential.
Essential Functions
- Sew handmade goods at Weaving Studio under the direction of Weaving Studio Manager
- Responsible for sewing approximately 24 different items
- Utilize existing patterns or kits for products such as purses, scarves, wallets
- Drafting patterns and sewing new garments or items from scratch
- Quality control of products to ensure accuracy of the weaving
- Operate industrial sewing machine
- Ability to read and interpret patterns to create garments accurately
- Ensuring that sewing machines are in good working order
- Works with a variety of fabrics including cotton, wool, chenille, tinsel, and ray
