Full Job Description

Overview:

Community Bridges, a leader in the development of and advocacy for innovative approaches supporting people with disabilities and their families, seeks a dynamic, strategic-thinking, and mission-driven President and CEO. This individual will embody the organization’s commitment to those it serves while providing strong strategic leadership, financial oversight, and operational direction under the governance of a highly engaged and collaborative Board of Directors.

The President and CEO will guide the organization’s strategic vision, adapting to an evolving healthcare and funding environment, and advancing innovative, high-impact programs and services across New Hampshire. As the organization’s primary spokesperson and connector, this individual will build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including state and local government, legislators, community partners, families, employees, and funding agencies.

Key Responsibilities

Operational & Regulatory Leadership

● Ensure full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

● Oversee quality assurance, risk management, and internal controls.

● Maintain productive relationships with organizational, governmental, philanthropic, donor, and operational partners.

Financial Management

● Lead development and oversight of operating and capital budgets.

● Ensure sound financial practices, forecasting, and reporting.

● Monitor contracts, reimbursement systems, and funding streams.

● Strengthen internal financial controls and operational efficiency.

Workforce & Organizational Culture

● Lead recruitment, retention, and succession planning initiatives.

● Ensure leadership accountability across the management team.

● Promote a mission-aligned and respectful, supportive workplace culture.

● Oversee and enhance performance management systems.

● Foster a productive, welcoming, collaborative, and mission-driven culture within the organization

Program Oversight & Quality

● Monitor program performance using data-driven metrics.

● Implement continuous quality improvement processes.

● Ensure service delivery aligns with mission, contractual expectations, and community needs.

Board Partnership & Governance

● Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors.

● Provide strategic guidance regarding policy, risk management, and organizational direction.

● Support effective governance practices and Board development.

External Relations & Advocacy

● Serve as chief spokesperson and ambassador for the organization.

● Represent the organization before government agencies, funders, and community stakeholders.

● Advocate for policies and funding that support the organization’s mission.

● Build and sustain strategic partnerships across the sector.

Education & Experience

● Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree in human services, management, or related field preferred.

● Minimum of seven (7) years of leadership and management experience required, including experience in a complex, multi-program social services organization.

● Experience serving individuals with disabilities and their families is preferred.

● Comprehensive understanding of working with individuals with disabilities in community-based, person-centered environments preferred

● Proven record of working collaboratively with a Board of Directors on strategic planning, mission execution, and board recruitment.

● Experience with state funding, legislation, and Medicaid-funded organizations.

Required Skills

● Extensive knowledge of developmental disabilities, rights of individuals with disabilities, federal legislation, and programs.

● Results-oriented; able to understand financial and programmatic requirements and provide solutions in a rapidly changing funding environment and growth-oriented organization.

● Collaborative and motivational management style; leads by example; displays sound judgment and high ethical standards.

● Excellent relationship-building skills with an ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

● A sense of humor and the personal qualities of integrity, entrepreneurial spirit, calm under fire, and striving for continuous improvement.

● Demonstrated commitment to fundraising as an essential activity for growth and sustainability.

● Strong understanding of business management, administration, planning principles, diagnosis and evaluation methods, program and staff development, and financial/social resources for administering programs.

● Strong decision making skills, with the ability to balance competing demands and organizational priorities.

● Demonstrated ability to drive accountability and ensure follow-through on organizational priorities and commitments.

● Ability to speak and write clearly, advocate for individuals with disabilities, and work confidently with diverse stakeholders.

● Proven skills in staff development, team building, financial management, program planning, case management, and proposal writing.

Physical Abilities and Environmental

Extended workdays may occasionally be required to meet organizational needs and workload demands. A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel throughout the service region as needed are required. This role regularly involves the use of standard office equipment and technology, including computers and virtual communication platforms, as well as reviewing written and electronic materials. The position may also involve occasional movement throughout office and community locations, participation in meetings and events, and the handling of light materials or supplies.

Pay: $195,000.00 - $210,000.00 per year
