The Heart Institute at Children’s Hospital Colorado is committed to delivering exceptional, comprehensive, and compassionate care to children and adults with congenital and acquired heart disease. In collaboration with our colleagues in cardiovascular surgery, cardiac anesthesia, and pediatric cardiology including advanced practice providers, nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, and other specialists—we strive for excellence in clinical outcomes.
We provide robust training programs for categorical cardiology fellows and cardiovascular surgery fellows, as well as advanced fellowships, including one in advanced cardiac intensive care. Our team also plays an integral role in the education of fellows in pediatric critical care, neonatology, and cardiac anesthesia.
The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) admits over 800 surgical and medical patients annually. It features a state-of-the-art 24-bed CICU and a 40-bed Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (CPCU). Our dedicated CICU faculty are actively engaged in academic pursuits and contribute to multiple areas of research and innovation.
We aim to maintain a strong presence locally, nationally, and internationally through translational and clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, data-driven outcomes, and advocacy.
