Full Job Description

Wayne Veterinary Hospital and Landmark Animal Clinic are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic front desk receptionist to join our veterinary team. We’re a close-knit companion animal clinics that offers medical services to include surgery, sick and wellness exams, vaccinations, testing, health certificates and euthanasia's. We also offer overnight boarding services. Our team is friendly, supportive, and dedicated to providing honest, compassionate care. We take pride in creating a comforting, friendly environment for our clients and their beloved companions.

We are looking for someone who is friendly, reliable, able to multitask and comfortable around cats and dogs of all sizes, including working police K9’s.

Prior veterinary experience not required, prior experience around animals encouraged.

Must be 18 years old, legally authorized to work in the United States and willing to undergo a background check.

Basic administrative/personal skills required:

● General computer usage to include email and web browsers.

● Usage of a multi-line phone system.

● Ability to process cash, card and check payments.

● Use of a printer/scanner/fax machine.

● Empathy and Compassion to clients/patients.

● Ability to maintain professional demeanor with clients/patients.

● Basic organizational and housekeeping skills.

● Good communication skills, both with clients and staff (not necessarily with the patients).

Job Duties Include:

● Checking clients in/out for surgeries, drop offs, boarding and appointments.

● Answer phones, schedule appointments, and help manage the daily flow.

● Process client payments (cash, card, check, etc.).

● Obtain, Maintain, Scan and File medical records.

● Handle prescription refill requests following clinic protocols.

● Communicate with the Vet and staff clearly, though telepathically would be cool.

● Maintaining a clean and tidy lobby and reception area.

● Supporting clients with kindness, patience, and a tissue when needed.

Schedule:

● Alternating weekends off

● Biweekly scheduling

6:45am-6:30pm Monday-Friday

7:00am-12:30pm and 4:00pm-5:00pm Saturdays

7:00am-8:00am and 4:00pm-5:30pm Sundays

*** Given the sometimes unpredictable nature of the medical field, there may be occasions when working past closing is required. This doesn’t happen often, but when it does, staff are required to remain until patient care is finished. The schedule reflects typical hours, but it cannot override the needs of an animal that is still being treated.
