Job Summary
The Floor Manager oversees daily café and bakery operations on the floor, ensuring smooth service flow, excellent guest experiences, and effective coordination between the front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH) teams. This role combines guest service leadership with operational management responsibilities, including supervising staff, resolving guest concerns, monitoring service performance, and supporting the General Manager with training, scheduling, and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Service & Experience

Welcome and engage guests, maintaining a friendly and efficient atmosphere.
Support the team during peak hours by assisting at the register, expediting orders, and delivering items when needed.
Address and resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring satisfaction.
Monitor service areas to ensure order accuracy, clean presentation, and timely guest flow.

Team Leadership & Development

Lead, coach, and mentor FOH staff, including cashiers, baristas, bussers, and support staff.
Model best practices in hospitality, efficiency, and professionalism.
Hold the team accountable for service standards, guest interactions, and closing/opening duties.
Conduct pre-shift huddles to review daily priorities, product features, or operational updates.
Partner with the General Manager to provide feedback, identify training needs, and suggest process improvements.

Operational Management

Oversee FOH setup, cleanliness, and readiness for service throughout the day.
Collaborate with BOH to maintain smooth order flow, quality standards, and timely food/drink delivery.
Monitor product display cases, self-service stations, and retail offerings for freshness, appearance, and restocking.
Authorize adjustments, discounts, or comps within company guidelines.
Ensure compliance with health, food safety, and workplace safety standards.

Menu & Product Knowledge

Maintain thorough knowledge of café, bakery, and retail offerings, including ingredients, preparation methods, and allergen information.
Train staff to upsell and make guest recommendations that enhance their experience.

Administrative & Financial Support

Assist with scheduling, shift coverage, and attendance tracking.
Monitor daily sales activity and help reconcile cash/credit transactions as needed.
Support labor cost goals by adjusting floor staffing levels based on business demand.
Contribute to initiatives that improve efficiency, guest flow, and overall profitability.

Qualifications

2+ years of restaurant experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead server role.
Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Solid knowledge of food, beverages, and service etiquette.
Familiarity with POS systems and basic reporting.
Knowledge of California labor and food safety standards preferred.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Hospitality, business, or food service coursework is a plus.
Food Handler’s Certification required; Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification preferred.

Paid Vacation/PTO: Exempt employees accrue vacation/PTO benefits beginning after 90 days of employment (details in employee handbook).
Bus pass stipend for full-time employees.

Pay: $70,304.00 - $72,000.00 per year
