Full Job Description

Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting them in achieving their personal goals and enhancing their quality of life. This position involves working closely with clients in various settings, including individual's home, group homes, assisted living facilities, and community environments. The DSP is responsible for fostering independence while ensuring the safety and well-being of those they support.

Duties

Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and meal preparation.
Implement care plans tailored to each client’s needs, including medication administration and adherence to prescribed routines.
Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and skill development.
Maintain a clean and safe environment by assisting individuals in light housekeeping duties as needed.
Support individuals with mobility challenges using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
Observe and document client behavior, progress, and any changes in condition while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other support staff to ensure comprehensive care delivery.
Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the overall well-being of clients.

Skills

First aid and CPR certification preferred for emergency preparedness.
Experience in human delivery system.
Strong person served observation skills to identify changes in behavior or health status.
Knowledge of caregiving techniques for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for client mobility assistance.
Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and team members.
Understanding of social work principles related to supporting individuals with disabilities.
Commitment to providing respectful and dignified care tailored to each individual’s needs. This role requires a compassionate individual dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of those they serve while promoting independence and dignity within the community.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
