Full Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will be based in California and possess a strong understanding of California legal principles and procedures, with a focus on insurance defense. This role requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, and a commitment to supporting our attorneys in delivering exceptional legal services.

Responsibilities

Assist attorneys in all phases of insurance defense law, including case intake, discovery and trial preparation.
Paralegal knowledge regarding the workup of insurance defense matters, including discovery, medical records, legal research and case chronology.
Draft and prepare legal documents such as pleadings, discovery requests/responses, subpoenas and correspondence.
Organize and manage case files, records and evidence.
Conduct legal research and summarize findings.
Assist in trial preparation, including preparation of trial binders and exhibits.
Communicate professionally with team members, clients, experts and opposing counsel.

Key Qualifications

Strong understanding of the California Code of Civil Procedure.
Experience with discovery and handling medical records for litigation.
Skilled in creating case chronologies.
Prior experience billing time as a paralegal.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office platforms.
Ability to work independently in a remote setting.

Experience

Proven experience as a Paralegal in insurance defense law.
Strong research skills with the ability to analyze complex information effectively.
Excellent proofreading skills to ensure accuracy in all documentation.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
