Allient Technologies Group LLC (ATG) is seeking an experienced, hands-on Lead Electrical Engineer to serve as the senior technical lead for electrical design on complex automation projects. The primary focus of this role is creating and reviewing electrical schematics, control-panel designs, wiring documentation, bills of material, and related deliverables from concept through commissioning.
This is a senior individual-contributor position with no direct reports or formal people-management responsibilities. The Lead Electrical Engineer will lead through technical expertise, design ownership, peer review, and day-to-day mentoring of electrical engineers, designers, and technicians while partnering with the Engineering Manager on priorities, staffing, and performance matters.
- Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Design and Schematic Development
· Own the electrical design and schematic package for assigned automation and custom-equipment projects from concept through final as-built release.
· Create clear, buildable electrical schematics, panel layouts, power-distribution diagrams, safety circuits, I/O architecture, network drawings, cable and terminal plans, and installation documentation.
· Select and size electrical components, including circuit protection, power supplies, transformers, drives, motors, safety devices, controls hardware, terminals, and field devices.
· Develop accurate bills of material, wire and cable schedules, device lists, design calculations, test requirements, and supporting technical documentation.
· Coordinate electrical interfaces with mechanical, controls/software, manufacturing, procurement, and field teams so designs are complete, practical, and ready to build.
· Provide hands-on engineering support during panel fabrication, machine build, debug, factory acceptance testing, installation, commissioning, and as-built updates.
- Candidate QualificationsRequired Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
· Four or more years of electrical engineering experience in industrial automation, custom machinery, capital equipment, manufacturing systems, or a closely related environment.
· Demonstrated experience serving as a senior or lead electrical engineer, owning complex design packages, and mentoring engineers, designers, or technicians; formal supervisory experience is not required.
· Strong working knowledge of control-panel design, low-voltage power distribution, safety circuits, PLC/HMI/motion hardware, industrial networking, and electrical CAD documentation.
· Extensive hands-on experience creating and checking schematics, panel layouts, bills of material, wire and cable schedules, calculations, specifications, and other electrical deliverables.
· Demonstrated ability to support projects from concept and estimating through build, debug, factory testing, installation, commissioning, and customer acceptance.
· Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes, machine-safety expectations, and engineering documentation practices.
· Strong troubleshooting, root-cause-analysis, design-review, prioritization, written communication, and presentation skills.
· Ability to influence, coach, and collaborate effectively without relying on formal reporting authority.
· Ability to travel to customer or supplier locations as required by project needs.
