I. Summary of Responsibilities:

This is a part-time 20 hours a week position (with potential to go full-time), with full-time fill-in coverage. A high level of professionalism, customer service experience; and, ability to effectively communicate and work with other staff and doctor’s offices is required. Attention to detail and ability to “think outside the box” is a must. This position requires adherence to HIPAA laws and reports directly to the Health Information Management Director.

This position will be responsible for, but not limited to:

Answering phones and customer support for the department.
Scanning paper records to electronic patient records.
Receiving, organizing and maintaining medical record requests.
Working closely with the hospital billing department.
Accessing software programs to manage, submit and obtain requested medical records.
Cross-Training and assist as needed.

II. Physical Requirements:

Work on-site, weekdays.
Sitting 80%, walking/standing 20%.
Some light lifting – files, boxes.
Must be able to work at a computer station daily.
Must meet pre-employment requirements.

III. Education/Licensure/Training:

High School Graduate/GED Diploma required.
1 year of office experience required.
Proficiency with computers required.
Experience with electronic medical records in either a hospital or doctor’s office required.
Training and/or education in a Health Information/Technology field preferred.
