Full Job Description

General Summary
The primary responsibilities of our Assistant Store Manager is to maintain outstanding customer service, manage cashiers, manage sales associates and help create the best paint department experience possible, generate sales, merchandise product, and support the Pecan Ace management team. The Assistant Store Manager is tasked with additional and specialized duties around the Pecan Ace Paint Department which includes giving color and paint product selection advice, receiving product, overseeing the paint department, and otherwise extending our customer first philosophy to be the most helpful hardware stores possible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Execute the daily operational, day-to-day goals and priorities assigned by store management.
Manage the day to day staff.
Manage the training and development of peers.
Maintain the paint counter, department and aisles on a daily basis.
Offer color matching expertise and paint product selection advice.
Ensure that the paint department is performing (on a weekly basis) to the expectations of the Store Manager.
Ensure each customer receives outstanding service which follows the WOW process and by mystery shop standards.
Promote and assist in paint department hands on workshops and experiences.
Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
Uphold merchandising and store cleanliness standards.
Participate in the processing of new shipments and help the team to keep the receiving and back stock area clean and organized.
Aware of and able to respond to safety issues.
Aid customers in locating merchandising in store, on acehardware.com, as well as processing special orders.
Solicit customers to open an Ace Rewards card and Pecan Ace B to B Programs.
Answer customers’ questions and provide information on procedures and policies.

Job responsibilities may change based on the needs of the business.

Skills/Knowledge:

· Knowledge of necessary retail jobs, staff skill evaluation, staff development and feedback techniques.

. Knowledge of retail computer systems, MS Word and Excel a plus.

· A commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction.

· Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills.

· Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to timely complete tasks accurately.

· Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for an extended period of time.
Walking, lifting (up to 60lbs) and climbing stairs and ladders.

Minimum Requirements and Experience: Min 8 years retail experience; Min 4 years paint store experience; Color matching; Sales and marketing experience with retail programs; Establishing relationships and working with customers; Buying experience a plus.
