Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are on the lookout for an energetic and passionate Sous Chef to help lead our culinary team at our Grand Forks location on the campus of UND. This new dynamic restaurant is being done in collaboration with Surly Brewing Company based out of Minneapolis. We have over 300 seats plus an outdoor patio and several meeting/private areas. In this exciting role, you will be at the forefront of creating memorable dining experiences while helping managing kitchen operations. Your expertise in food production and team management will ensure that we deliver top-notch service and delectable dishes that keep our guests coming back for more. Duties

Assist in all kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation.
Manage inventory control and food handling practices to maintain cost efficiency and minimize waste.
Supervise kitchen staff, providing training and guidance to foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting a culture of food safety within the team.
Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service during peak times and special events.
Assist in catering services for banquets, ensuring timely preparation and delivery of meals.
Assist in working with the line cooks and prep cooks.

Skills

Proven experience in a leadership role within the culinary field, ideally as a Sous Chef or a lead line cook.
Strong background in full-service restaurants.
Comprehensive knowledge of food production techniques, including cooking methods and presentation styles.
Familiarity with inventory management systems and cost control measures.
Solid understanding of dietary restrictions and the ability to accommodate diverse guest needs.
Exceptional communication skills for effective collaboration with both kitchen staff and front-of-house teams.
A passion for hospitality that drives a commitment to providing outstanding guest experiences.
