Full Job Description

General Description

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, engaging, coordinating, and supporting volunteers who help Four Pointes fulfill its mission of supporting older adults in our community. This position serves as a primary point of contact for Four Pointes volunteers and plays an important role in building meaningful relationships between volunteers, program participants, community partners, and the organization.

The Volunteer Coordinator will oversee key volunteer programs, maintain accurate volunteer records and documentation, coordinate volunteer training and recognition, and support the continued growth and success of Four Pointes’ volunteer initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement

Recruit, interview, onboard, and coordinate volunteers for Four Pointes programs.
Develop and maintain relationships with current and prospective volunteers.
Communicate regularly with volunteers regarding schedules, opportunities, expectations, and organizational updates.
Create opportunities to recognize, appreciate, and retain volunteers.
Serve as a welcoming and responsive point of contact for volunteers.

Volunteer Program Coordination

Coordinate and oversee volunteer-supported programs, including but not limited to:
Volunteer Transportation
Phone-A-Friend
Other emerging volunteer opportunities
Match volunteers with appropriate program opportunities based on availability, interests, and program needs.
Coordinate volunteer schedules and respond to scheduling changes or program needs.
Ensure volunteers understand program expectations, safety procedures, confidentiality requirements, and appropriate boundaries when working with older adults.
Monitor volunteer participation and identify opportunities to strengthen and expand volunteer programming.

Volunteer Administration

Process and maintain volunteer applications, background checks, training records, and other required documentation.
Maintain accurate and confidential volunteer records and databases.
Track volunteer participation, hours, mileage, and other program data as needed.
Assist with program reporting, grant documentation, and evaluation activities.
Help identify trends, challenges, and opportunities related to volunteer engagement and program delivery.

Training & Community Building

Plan and coordinate annual volunteer training and other ongoing learning opportunities.
Provide orientation and support to new volunteers.
Facilitate opportunities for volunteers to connect with one another and the Four Pointes team.
Support volunteer appreciation activities and events.

Agency Support

Attend and participate in agency meetings, trainings, in-services, events, and community activities.
Collaborate with Four Pointes staff to identify volunteer needs and opportunities across the organization.
Uphold the mission, values, policies, and standards of Four Pointes Center for Successful Aging.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with a diverse group of volunteers, older adults, staff, and community partners.
Genuine interest in working with and supporting older adults.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, schedules, and responsibilities.
Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
Comfortable recruiting, communicating with, and engaging volunteers through phone, email, and in-person interactions.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
Ability to maintain accurate, organized, and confidential records.
Friendly, approachable, dependable, and professional demeanor.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to respond calmly and appropriately to changing circumstances.
Commitment to confidentiality, professional ethics, and respectful interactions.
Punctual and dependable with the ability to work scheduled hours.
Must have a valid Michigan driver's license, reliable transportation, and a cell phone.

Education and/or Experience

Two years of college, an associate degree, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience preferred.
Experience coordinating volunteers, community programs, events, or similar initiatives preferred.
Experience working with older adults, in human services, nonprofit organizations, or community-based programs is highly valued.
Experience recruiting, training, supervising, or engaging volunteers is a plus.
Relevant experience may be considered in place of formal education.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
