Full Job Description

Sweet Express, LLC a local growing transportation company based in Kentwood, MI is looking to hire a full time Accounts Payable Associate working onsite at our Breton Road, Grand Rapids, MI terminal. Sweet Express takes family to new levels! We over a full range of health and welfare benefits that start on the first of the month after the date of hire . The general schedule for this position is 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Accounts Payable Associate will have primary responsibility for entering invoices and ensuring proper payments to vendors, as well as cash receipts posting and collections. This role will work with purchasing, receiving and vendors to verify purchase orders, receipts and invoices are correctly completed and processed. General Duties:

Receive, record, and bank payments including cash, checks, and vouchers.
Responsible for monitoring, entering, and reconciling accounts including payments, batches, chargebacks and discrepancies, and sending monthly statements.
Prepare and maintain various reconciliations & chargebacks reports.
Negotiate and set up payment plans or settlements within approved guidelines.
Communicate by phone or email with clients in regards to collection of accounts.
Answer customer questions regarding problems with their accounts.
Record information about financial status of customers and status of collection efforts.
Operate computers programmed with accounting software to record, store, and analyze information.
Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.
Debit, credit, and total accounts on computer spreadsheets and databases.

Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
At least one year experience in accounts receivable and collections, preferably in a professional office environment.
Providing customer service with regards to collection issues, customer refunds, account adjustments, proof of deliveries, credit inquires, resolve client discrepancies and short payments.
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such experience in Microsoft applications including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Must be detail oriented with the ability to analyzing information using logic & mathematics to solve problems and maintain clear and concise documentation on accounts.
Able to function in a team environment and independently, ability to multi-task, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to interact professionally with all levels of the organization.
Present yourself calmly and effectively with customers and display a good-natured, cooperative attitude even in very difficult situations.
Bilingual English and Bosnian preferred

IDEAL EXPERIENCE

3+ years of Accounts Payable
Highly proficient with software with emphasis on Excel
Accounting and finance background – some experience with Receivables and Payroll is a plus

Physical Requirements:

· frequently required to sit and talk or hear

· use hands to finger, grasp, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls

· occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch,

· occasionally reach with hands and arms, walk; lift push or pull objects up to 20 pound.

· Hand-eye coordination necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus

· Infrequent lifting up to 25 pounds.
