Leedy Manufacturing is seeking an entry-level Manufacturing/Quality Engineer with a four-year engineering degree. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys solving problems, working with people, and being involved in the manufacturing process.
Approximately 60% of your time will be spent on the manufacturing floor and 40% in the office. You'll work directly with production employees, suppliers, manufacturing processes, and the parts we produce. This position includes hands-on metrology and dimensional inspection. The ME/QE is responsible for performing their own inspections using various measurement devices.
You'll work closely with our quality manager, a Ferris State University graduate with more than 30 years of manufacturing experience who is passionate about engineering and enjoys mentoring engineers who are excited to learn, solve problems, and grow their careers.

The essential duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
· Using a common sense approach to solving issues by assessing risk
· Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· Comfortable working on the manufacturing floor and interacting with employees at all levels
· Must have metrology experience
· Understanding of statistics, as applied in manufacturing
· Organized, detail oriented, and self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership
· Support and improve the quality management system
· Create and maintain control plans, inspection check sheets, work instructions, and other essential production documentation
· Perform dimensional inspections using the vast amount of in house measurement equipment
· Select appropriate inspection methods and verify conformance to part drawings, specifications and customer requirements
· Support production by troubleshooting quality and manufacturing issues on the plant floor
· Work directly with suppliers on quality concerns, corrective actions, and supplier part rejections
· Investigate customer quality/warranty issues and implement corrective actions
· Create production documentation for new product launches
· Review and update necessary documents for revision changes to drawings and specifications
· Identify opportunities to improve quality and manufacturing processes
Manufacturing Experience
Experience or heavy understanding with any of the following processes is a plus:
· Laser cutting
· Punch presses
· Roll forming
· Press brakes
· Welding
· Machining (turning, milling, gear cutting, grinding, etc.)
· Assembly
· Part processing (heat treat, powder coating, plating, etc.)
· Coil and sheet steel processing
· Electric motors and motor components

Qualifications
· Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Quality Engineering, or a related Engineering field is an absolute requirement.
· Recent graduates are encouraged to apply even if you don’t have the experience described in the advertisement.
· Manufacturing, internship, or co-op experience is a plus
· Coursework or experience in metrology, dimensional inspection, or quality engineering is preferred
· ERP experience is a plus
