Full Job Description

Experienced Paralegal-Estate Administration
McShane & Bowie, P.L.C., a longstanding and respected law firm in downtown Grand Rapids, is seeking an experienced full-time paralegal with a background in probate administration.

Essential Job Functions:
-- Maintain trust/estate administration files and monitor filing and other important deadlines.

- Draft trust administration documents; prepare trust accountings; assist with informing and updating interested parties of trust administration status; assist trustee with paying all expenses; prepare documents for final distribution to beneficiaries.

- Assist with transfers of assets, including preparation and transmittal of transfer documents; preparation of assignments, stock certificates, and stock powers for LLCs and corporate transfers;

- Prepare and file claims for insurance proceeds and death benefits.

- Assist with filing guardianships and conservatorships; maintain annual conservatorship estates, including accounts and reports; assist with preparation of petitions and related court filings.

- Prepare Medicaid applications and Redetermination applications.

- Schedule and attend client/attorney meetings and signings.

- Locate original wills, certified death certificates, and any relevant trust/estate documents.

-Prepare and maintain inventories, valuations, and accountings.

Minimum Requirements:

Must possess:
-A minimum of two years of experience as an estate planning and/or estate administration paralegal are preferred.

- Certification or degree in paralegal studies preferred.
