National Installer - Commercial Tankless Water Heating Systems ( DOT Class B + Enclosed Trailer ) - Daily Per Diem
Facilities Resource Group (FRG), located in Comstock Park, Michigan, specializes in the engineering, production, installation and service of COMMERCIAL TANKLESS WATER HEATING SYSTEMS.
We are seeking a LOCAL PLUMBER Helper / PLUMBING Technician / Apprentice w/ 1-2 years of commercial plumbing experience. Must know plumbing basics: general function, how water heating works, components, pipefitting, good shop math. Experience with venting and gas piping ideal. Must be able to operate a DOT CLASS B fleet vehicle with enclosed trailer. This position travels nationally for appx 3-10 days/trip, is paid a daily per diem for every night out and has high overtime hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Safe operation of company vehicle, and safe transportation and installation of equipment. Operates fleet truck under DOT Class B requirements (we can help you obtain your class B / Chauffeur license and DOT medical card), hauls trailer containing tankless water heating systems. You will load up at the shop, drive the vehicle for long periods of time in a stationary seated position, and operate an electronic DOT logbook (GEOTAB). Transport the equipment and tools to worksite anywhere in the US.
Meet up with the Lead Plumber to get an overview of the project coordination plan. Work will be in mixed environments, and is mostly standing, sometimes indoors and sometimes outdoors. Occasionally, work must be performed at low heights from a ladder. You'll help remove old existing fixtures and components, and start preparing to install. You will be running parts and tools, and be cutting, fitting, joining and/or insulating copper, PVC and gas piping from 1/4" - 3" (mostly 1/2" - 2" copper). Once the job is complete, you will load out and return vehicle to shop. Other duties, as needed.
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:
- MUST be 21+ years of age and legally authorized to work in US;
- MUST possess HS Diploma, GED or equivalent
- MUST have 1-2 yrcommercial plumbing or reconstruction experience;
- MUST be able to operate a 4wd truck to haul a 30' trailer;
- MUST complete background including an MVR (for insurability);
- MUST complete DOT physical and drug screen for medical card;
- MUST obtain Class B Chauffeur license (FRG will handle the costs);
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- MUST be able to accurately use/interpret tape measure to 1/16";
- MUST have experience in pipefitting, plumbing or finish carpentry (specifically commercial builds, restoration or high-end residential complex structures);
- MUST be able to safely operate commercial vehicle over road for long hours;
- MUST be lift up to 50 lb occasionally and up to 75 lb infrequently during shifts;
- MUST be able to work in any manner of physical positions and be able to transition easily from seated to standing, crouching, stooping, leaning, bending, twisting, and/or working while looking up, with arms extended overhead, whether indoors or outdoors, and sometimes for longer periods of time;
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- A large portion of work time is operating the vehicle (safely per road conditions);
- Site work time is indoor/outdoor work, often traversing between the two;
- Sometimes works from a ladder or at limited heights;
