Inside/Outside Sales

Summary

The Inside/Outside Sales Representative is responsible for driving sales growth by developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing customers within the metal fabrication industry. This role involves a combination of inside sales (phone, email, virtual meetings) and outside sales (in-person and site visits). Additionally, the Salesperson will play a crucial role in costing and estimating for customer projects, ensuring accurate, competitive pricing and profitability for the company. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of metal fabrication processes, the ability to read and quote from mechanical drawings, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in sales.

Mechanical Knowledge. Must have sound, mechanical knowledge and take a common sense/practical approach along with the ability to make thoughtful and timely decisions. Gain clarity of issues or objectives by getting input in the decision-making process and show consideration for the impact of the decisions.
Positive Attitude. Promote a positive attitude, understand and promote company mission and core values. Must be able to work independently and accept accountability.
Service. Must show commitment to providing exceptional customer service and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Engage with prospective and existing customers via phone, email, and virtual meetings to understand their needs and present relevant solutions.
Read, understand, and quote from mechanical drawings
Understand client requirements and provide tailored solutions to meet their needs.
Review customer specifications, blueprints, and technical requirements to develop detailed cost estimates for metal fabrication projects.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the metal fabrication market.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to develop and propose custom fabrication solutions.
Inform respective superiors about customer related affairs.
Prepare and deliver accurate and competitive quotes and sales proposals tailored to the customer’s requirements. Follow up to secure orders.
Manage the Purchase Order inbox, process purchase orders and create sales orders in our ERP system.
Coordinate with production and operations teams to ensure customer orders are processed efficiently and meet specified delivery timelines.
Conduct in-person visits to customer sites to build strong relationships, assess needs, and provide solutions tailored to their fabrication requirements.
Process orders and ensure all necessary documentation is completed accurately and on time.
Manage the entire sales process from initial inquiry to order fulfillment. Ensure timely and accurate processing of customer orders.

Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
1-5 years of experience in sales, with a strong preference for experience in the manufacturing industry.
Must possess strong mechanical knowledge. Engineering background preferred.
Ability to read mechanical drawings is a must
Solid understanding of metal fabrication processes, materials, and applications. Ability to discuss technical details and solutions with customers.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively.
Experience with ERP systems
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts and tasks effectively.
Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets. Strong negotiation, closing, and relationship-building skills.
