About the Role:

The Bookkeeping position with Business Works Experience is designed to ensure accurate and timely financial record-keeping that supports the overall financial health of the organization. The successful candidate will manage daily financial transactions, maintain ledgers, and reconcile accounts to provide a clear and organized financial picture. This role is critical in preparing financial reports that inform business decisions and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The bookkeeper will collaborate closely with other departments to gather necessary financial data and support budgeting processes. Ultimately, this position contributes to the smooth operation of the company’s financial systems and helps maintain transparency and accountability in all financial activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in accounting or related field preferred.
Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles, preferably within a business environment.
Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms.
Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial regulations.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
Experience with payroll systems and tax preparation.
Familiarity with financial reporting standards and compliance requirements.
Certification such as Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or equivalent.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.

Responsibilities:

Record and categorize daily financial transactions including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments.
Maintain and update general ledgers, accounts payable and receivable, and bank reconciliations.
Prepare and submit accurate financial reports and statements on a regular basis.
Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant financial regulations.
Collaborate with management and other departments to support budgeting and financial planning.
Monitor and resolve discrepancies in financial records and transactions.
Assist with payroll processing and tax filings as needed.
Maintain organized and secure financial documentation for audit purposes.

Skills:

The required skills in bookkeeping software and accounting principles are applied daily to accurately record and reconcile financial transactions, ensuring the integrity of financial data. Attention to detail is critical when reviewing financial documents and preparing reports to avoid errors and discrepancies. Communication skills are used to collaborate effectively with team members and management, facilitating smooth financial operations and problem resolution.
