Facilities & Maintenance Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time
Pay: $19–$22/hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; occasional evenings and events as needed

Position Summary
The Facilities & Maintenance Manager is responsible for the overall care, maintenance, safety, cleanliness, and appearance of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Rogue Valley facilities and grounds throughout Josephine County.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, this is a hands-on working manager position that combines team leadership with direct maintenance and facility work. The Facilities & Maintenance Manager supervises facilities and maintenance staff while actively participating in repairs, preventative maintenance, custodial work, landscaping, and facility improvement projects.
This position establishes maintenance priorities, coordinates vendors and contractors, supports facility budgets and capital planning, and ensures Club properties remain safe, functional, clean, and welcoming for youth, families, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
Essential Responsibilities
Facility Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform routine building maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance across multiple Club locations.
- Diagnose and address facility issues involving plumbing fixtures, doors, locks, drywall, flooring, lighting, cabinetry, fencing, playground equipment, and other building components.
- Complete painting, patching, assembly, installation, general carpentry, and other maintenance projects.
- Operate hand and power tools, ladders, maintenance equipment, and related machinery safely.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and urgent repair needs.
- Proactively identify and address maintenance concerns before they become larger or more costly repairs.
Grounds & Landscaping
- Perform and oversee mowing, trimming, edging, irrigation repairs, pruning, seasonal cleanup, weed control, and general landscape maintenance.
- Maintain safe and attractive playgrounds, parking lots, sidewalks, recreation areas, and other outdoor spaces.
- Inspect outdoor equipment and grounds regularly and address maintenance or safety concerns.
Custodial & Facility Appearance
- Perform and supervise custodial work as needed to support Club operations.
- Ensure classrooms, offices, kitchens, restrooms, and common areas consistently meet established standards for cleanliness and appearance.
- Coordinate deep cleaning and seasonal cleaning projects.
- Maintain appropriate inventory of cleaning supplies, maintenance materials, tools, and equipment.
Team Leadership
- Directly supervise facilities and maintenance staff.
- Assign work, establish daily and long-term priorities, and monitor completion.
- Provide staff with coaching, training, feedback, and support.
- Work alongside team members to complete projects and model quality workmanship, safety, and professionalism.
- Promote accountability while maintaining a positive, collaborative team culture.
Preventative Maintenance & Asset Management
- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules for Club facilities, grounds, vehicles, equipment, and building systems as applicable.
- Conduct routine facility inspections and maintain records related to maintenance, inspections, warranties, equipment, and facility assets.
- Develop facility improvement priorities and recommend equipment repair or replacement schedules.
- Help protect and extend the useful life of organizational facilities and equipment through proactive maintenance.
Vendor, Contractor & Project Coordination
- Coordinate outside vendors, contractors, inspections, and specialized service providers.
- Obtain bids, estimates, and recommendations for repairs and facility improvements.
- Monitor contractor work for quality, timeliness, safety, and project completion.
- Assist with planning and implementation of capital improvement, renovation, and facility improvement projects.
Budget & Purchasing Support
- Assist the Director of Operations with facility budget planning and capital improvement priorities.
- Monitor maintenance and repair expenditures.
- Recommend equipment, tool, material, and supply purchases.
- Support cost-effective purchasing while maintaining appropriate standards for quality and safety.
Safety & Organizational Support
- Promote compliance with applicable OSHA requirements and organizational safety standards.
- Identify and promptly address facility and grounds safety concerns.
- Support emergency preparedness activities and facility-related safety procedures.
- Provide facility and operational support for Club events and special activities as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission and operations of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Rogue Valley.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong practical knowledge of general building maintenance, repair, and facility operations.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve common facility problems.
- Ability to supervise and develop staff while remaining actively involved in hands-on work.
- Experience safely operating maintenance, landscaping, and power equipment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance needs and projects across multiple locations.
- Ability to communicate professionally and work effectively with staff, vendors, contractors, volunteers, and community partners.
- Good judgment and the ability to recognize when specialized or licensed contractors are needed.
- A strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and maintaining facilities that reflect pride in the Boys & Girls Club mission.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in facility maintenance, building trades, landscaping, property maintenance, or a related field.
- At least one year of supervisory, lead, or team leadership experience.
- Demonstrated experience performing hands-on maintenance and repair work.
- Valid Oregon driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to successfully complete required criminal background check and drug screening.
Preferred
- Trade certifications, vocational training, or related technical education.
- Experience maintaining or managing multiple facilities.
- Experience supervising maintenance, grounds, or custodial staff.
- OSHA or other workplace safety training.
- Experience working in nonprofit, educational, recreation, or youth-serving environments.
Physical Requirements
This is an active, physically demanding position. The employee must be able to regularly:
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Climb ladders and work at varying heights.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
- Bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and work in confined or difficult-to-access areas as required.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, landscaping equipment, and maintenance machinery.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and seasonal conditions.
- Drive between Club locations throughout Josephine County.
