Position Overview
LINKS is seeking an experienced Dry-Cleaning Presser to join our commercial dry cleaning team. The Dry-Cleaning Presser is responsible for professionally finishing garments using commercial pressing and finishing equipment while meeting company standards for quality, appearance, productivity, and safety.
The ideal candidate has experience pressing a variety of garments, including pants, shirts, jackets, dresses, uniforms, and specialty items. This position requires strong attention to detail, dependable attendance, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced commercial laundry environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Professionally press and finish dry-cleaned and laundered garments.
- Operate commercial pressing equipment, including utility presses, pants presses, shirt units, steam irons, toppers, and finishing equipment.
- Press pants, shirts, jackets, dresses, uniforms, skirts, blouses, and other garments according to fabric and garment requirements.
- Inspect garments before and after pressing for stains, damage, wrinkles, broken buttons, or other quality concerns.
- Identify garments requiring additional cleaning, stain treatment, repair, or reprocessing.
- Maintain proper creases, seams, pleats, collars, cuffs, and garment shape.
- Follow garment care labels and company procedures to prevent scorching, shine, stretching, shrinkage, or other damage.
- Meet established production goals without sacrificing quality.
- Keep garments organized by customer, route, order, or production category.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation.
- Report equipment problems or safety concerns immediately.
- Assist with garment sorting, inspection, bagging, or other production duties as needed.
- Follow all company safety, quality-control, and production procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous dry-cleaning or commercial garment-pressing experience
- Experience pressing multiple garment types
- Knowledge of fabrics, garment construction, and proper pressing techniques.
- Ability to operate commercial pressing and steam-finishing equipment safely.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work efficiently in a production-based environment.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
- Willingness to cross-train in other areas of the dry-cleaning operation.
- Bilingual English and Spanish is helpful but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand, arm, and upper-body movements.
- Ability to work around heat, steam, and commercial laundry equipment.
- Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to maintain productivity while performing detailed garment-finishing work.
Compensation
- $17.00–$22.00 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated pressing ability.
