IMPORTANT: This Is NOT a Mowing or Landscape Maintenance Position
When we say lawn care, we mean professional lawn treatments — fertilization, weed control, pest and disease treatments, mechanical core aeration and related turf-health services.
Higher Ground Lawn Care & Lighting is looking for a dependable, experienced or highly trainable Lawn Treatment & Lighting Specialist who can start immediately.
This position begins primarily in lawn-treatment production through the remainder of our lawn season and then transitions directly into our busy professional Christmas-lighting season.
For the right person, this seasonal/flex opportunity could develop into an ongoing flex/part-time or permanent full-time position in 2027.

Our workday is based out of North Grand Prairie.
Our customers are concentrated primarily throughout:
- Grand Prairie
- Arlington
- Mansfield
- Cedar Hill
- Midlothian
- Dallas (Highland Park, Park Cities, Lakewood, Preston Hollow, SMU, etc)
- Mid-Cities
- Close surrounding communities
You do not have to live in Grand Prairie, but you need a reasonable and sustainable daily commute to North Grand Prairie.
Reliability and punctuality are extremely important to us. Long daily commutes can become difficult in a physical outdoor position, particularly during our busy six-day Christmas season.
Please seriously consider your commute before applying. We want someone who can reliably report to North Grand Prairie on time and maintain that commute long term.
What You'll Do — Lawn Treatments
Again, this is professional lawn treatment — NOT mowing.
You'll help perform services including:
- Organic and conventional fertilization
- Pre- and post-emergent weed control
- Lawn insect and pest treatments
- Organic fungal/disease prevention and treatment
- Granular and liquid applications
- Mechanical core aeration using commercial equipment
- Identifying lawn problems and communicating field observations
- Pulling and operating professional hose-and-reel spray equipment
- Loading/unloading 40lb bags of fertilizer and treatment materials
- Logging treatments and service information using mobile apps
- Cleaning, servicing and maintaining application equipment
- Communicating professionally with customers when needed
- Following product-label, safety and company procedures
This is physical outdoor production work involving extensive walking, lifting, bending and working in HOT summer North Texas conditions.
Lawn Treatment Experience — Highly Preferred
Previous professional lawn treatment, fertilization, weed-control or pest-control experience is highly preferred.
We're particularly interested in candidates familiar with:
- Fertilizers
- Pre- and post-emergent herbicides
- Granular spreaders
- Hose-and-reel spray systems
- Backpack/handheld application equipment
- Mechanical core aerators
- Bermuda, St. Augustine and Zoysia turf
- Basic weed, insect and turf-disease identification
- Residential route-based treatment work
Related landscaping, irrigation, pest-control, agricultural or other professional outdoor field experience may also be considered.
We'll train the right person on Higher Ground's programs, products and procedures, but because this is an immediate production need, previous professional treatment experience is a major advantage.
Lawn-Season Compensation
During lawn-treatment production:
$176 per completed scheduled production day
A completed standard five-day production week pays:
$880
Compensation is based on completing the day's assigned production rather than working exactly eight hours.
If you complete your assigned production in less than a typical eight-hour day, you still earn the full $176 production-day rate.
If a scheduled production day is not worked, that day is not paid.
Professional lawn treatments are weather dependent, so weekly earnings may vary when weather prevents production.
Outdoor & Christmas Lighting Compensation
As lawn production winds down, this position transitions heavily into our professional Christmas-lighting operation season.
Work includes:
- Installing professional residential and commercial Christmas lighting
- Roofline, tree and landscape lighting
- Extension and step-ladder work
- Working on high roofs, in large trees canopies and other elevated areas
- Loading, unloading and positioning ladders and equipment
- Troubleshooting and servicing lighting systems
- Maintaining clean job sites and a professional finished product
- Working efficiently as part of a small production crew
You CANNOT Be Afraid of Heights and in relatively good physical shape.
This is a hard requirement.
Professional Christmas-lighting installation routinely involves ladders, roofs and working at elevated heights. If you're uncomfortable safely working at heights, this position is not a fit.
Christmas Compensation & Schedule
Christmas compensation transitions to our established production/per-job pay structure.
Our experienced seasonal workers have historically averaged approximately $30–$40 per hour worked under this production system.
This is not a guaranteed hourly wage. Actual earnings depend on jobs completed, production efficiency and available workload.
Christmas is our busiest season and typically requires long days and six days per week.
Applicants must be willing and available for this seasonal workload.
Requirements
- Professional lawn-treatment/fertilization experience highly preferred
- Valid driver's license

- Reliable transportation to our North Grand Prairie reporting location
- Comfortable driving trucks and operating field equipment
- Mechanically inclined and able to learn basic equipment maintenance
- Able to routinely lift and carry 40–50+ lbs
- Able to perform extensive walking and physical outdoor work
- Able to work in North Texas heat, cold and changing weather
- Not afraid of heights
- Able and willing to safely use ladders and perform elevated/roof work
- Comfortable using smartphones and mobile apps
- Able to communicate professionally with customers
- Detail-oriented and able to follow application instructions precisely
- Dependable, punctual and able to work without constant supervision
- Available for the typical six-day Christmas production schedule

Higher Ground maintains a drug- and alcohol-free workplace with zero tolerance for working under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Our work involves driving company vehicles, handling treatment products, operating machinery, climbing ladders and working at elevated heights. Safety is non-negotiable.

Seasonal Schedule & Long-Term Opportunity

Now through remainder of lawn season
Substantial/full time production workload is currently available performing professional lawn treatments.
Fall through approximately early December — Christmas Lighting
The position transitions heavily into Christmas-lighting production. This is our busiest period and normally involves a six-day workweek.
Mid/Late December
Once Christmas installations are completed, workload drops substantially. Little or no work may be available during this period.
Beginning approximately January 2
Christmas-light removal production begins with 6 day work weeks, long days.
2027 Lawn Season
For someone who proves dependable, productive and a strong fit for Higher Ground, there may be an opportunity to continue as a flex/part-time Lawn & Lighting Specialist, with the potential to transition into a permanent full-time position as company workload grows.
Future hours and continued work depend on company needs, performance and fit and are not guaranteed.
