Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Diet Aide to support our dietary department in providing nutritious and appealing meals to our residents and patients. The ideal candidate will have experience working in assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, or food service environments, with a strong understanding of food preparation, safety protocols, and dietary requirements. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of geriatric patients and other vulnerable populations by ensuring their nutritional needs are met with care and professionalism.

Duties

Assist in preparing, portioning, and serving meals according to dietary plans and safety standards.
Follow prescribed dietary guidelines to accommodate specific nutritional needs of residents or patients.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to sanitation and food safety regulations.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all food preparation areas, including proper handling of utensils and equipment.
Support the dietary team in inventory management, including stock rotation and storage of food items.
Assist with manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting of supplies while practicing safe lifting techniques.
Ensure compliance with workplace safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Provide excellent customer service by assisting residents or patients with meal choices and addressing special dietary requests.

Qualifications

Previous experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly desirable.
Knowledge of food production, preparation, and serving techniques within a healthcare or senior care setting.
Familiarity with dietary requirements for geriatric patients or individuals with special nutritional needs.
Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and follow sanitation standards rigorously.
Basic math skills for measuring ingredients and managing portion sizes accurately.
Experience with food handling, sanitation practices, and adhering to JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) standards is preferred.
CPR certification and understanding of workplace safety procedures are advantageous.
