Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse to join the exceptional clinical team at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital in Grass Valley, California. In this role, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based care to critically ill adult patients with complex medical conditions, including respiratory failure, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), gastrointestinal bleeding, and other acute illnesses. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care while utilizing advanced critical care skills, telemetry monitoring, ventilator management, and Cerner EMR. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of ICU experience, strong critical thinking and assessment skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced acute care environment committed to clinical excellence.

Duties

Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Perform detailed patient assessments and continuously monitor vital signs, hemodynamic status, cardiac rhythms, and neurological changes.
Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and other prescribed treatments while ensuring patient safety.
Operate and manage advanced critical care equipment, including cardiac monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps, and telemetry systems.
Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition, medical emergencies, and code situations.
Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes using the Cerner electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Educate patients and their families regarding treatment plans, disease processes, medications, and discharge planning.
Adhere to hospital policies, infection prevention protocols, and evidence-based nursing practices to maintain the highest standards of care.
Float to appropriate units as needed, participate in bedside shift reports, and provide safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care throughout the assignment.

Qualifications

Active and unrestricted California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Minimum of 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience in an acute care hospital.
Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required. PALS certification is preferred.
Strong knowledge of critical care nursing, hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, telemetry, and emergency response protocols.
Experience caring for patients with respiratory failure, sepsis, DKA, GI bleeds, and other complex critical care conditions.
Proficiency with Cerner Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system preferred.
Ability to accurately interpret cardiac rhythms (EKG/telemetry) and respond to changes in patient condition.
Excellent critical thinking, communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend, and float to appropriate units as required.
Must provide two supervisor references at the time of submission (one within the past 12 months and one within the past 3 years).
