Summary
Michigan Sleep and Counseling Center is a specialized telehealth practice focused on insomnia, Behavioral Sleep Medicine, and adult mental health care. We are building a clinician-centered practice designed to remove the administrative burdens that often lead to burnout, allowing therapists and psychologists to focus on meaningful clinical work while developing expertise in Behavioral Sleep Medicine and CBT-I—an increasingly in-demand specialty area with growing national need and limited provider availability.
We are currently seeking fully licensed Mental Health Therapists (LPC, LMFT, LMSW) and Clinical Psychologists in Michigan to join our growing remote team. No prior sleep medicine experience is required—all training, mentorship, and clinical support will be provided.
Applicants must hold an active, unrestricted Michigan license (LPC, LMFT, LMSW-Clinical, or Licensed Psychologist). At this time, we are unable to consider limited license clinicians (LLPC, LLMFT, LLMSW, LLP/TLLP), interns, or provisionally licensed clinicians requiring supervision.
This position includes comprehensive administrative support—we manage insurance credentialing, patient referrals, scheduling, billing, and marketing so clinicians can focus fully on patient care. We provide a steady stream of referrals, eliminating the need to build or market a private practice independently.
Compensation Structure
Clinicians are compensated at a tiered flat rate per completed 90837 session on a reliable bi-weekly payroll schedule:
- LPC / LMFT / LMSW: $65 per completed 90837 session
- Licensed Clinical Psychologist: $75 per completed 90837 session
Compensation is paid before insurance reimbursement is received, eliminating the cash-flow delays commonly associated with insurance-based private practice work.
We are hiring for both 1099 contractors (flexible schedule) and W-2 full-time positions. All clinicians begin in a 1099 contractor arrangement while becoming familiar with our clinical protocols, workflow, and Behavioral Sleep Medicine model of care.
Clinicians typically begin with approximately 2–5 clients during their first week and gradually build their caseload during the onboarding period. Candidates should be prepared to consistently complete at least 15 billable clinical hours per week after their first 1–2 months with the practice.
Once clinicians have established a consistent caseload, become comfortable with our treatment approach, and demonstrate a strong clinical fit—typically within approximately 6 months—they may become eligible to transition into a full-time W-2 role with benefits.
Because we invest substantially in credentialing, specialized Behavioral Sleep Medicine training, clinical consultation, and caseload development, we are seeking clinicians who are interested in building a stable, long-term relationship with the practice and who anticipate remaining in the position for at least one year.

- Flexible Scheduling | Clinicians maintain meaningful control over the days and times they work and may arrange their schedules around personal and professional commitments. After the initial 1–2-month caseload-building period, clinicians are expected to consistently complete at least 15 billable clinical hours per week. Clinicians should maintain sufficient availability to meet this expectation despite ordinary cancellations and scheduling fluctuations.
- Pathway to Long-Term Stability | Clinicians begin in a 1099 contractor arrangement while building familiarity with our systems and treatment model. Once clinicians are comfortable with our clinical workflow, treatment protocols, and consistently carrying approximately 25 billable clinical hours per week—typically within approximately 6 months—they may become eligible to transition into a W-2 position with benefits, including medical, dental, vision, PTO, and a 401(k).
Responsibilities
- Conduct telehealth psychotherapy sessions with adult clients (typically 53 minutes).
- Maintain a minimum of 15 fulfilled clinical hours per week (achieved within the first 1–2 months).
- Ability to commit to growing with the practice for a minimum of 1 year.
- Participate in training and ongoing development in Behavioral Sleep Medicine and CBT-I protocols.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and treatment records.
- Utilize our EHR system to review sleep-related clinical data and inform treatment planning.
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to clients experiencing insomnia and related mental health concerns.

Our practice specializes in insomnia and sleep-related concerns while also providing broader psychotherapy and counseling services for adult clients. While Behavioral Sleep Medicine is a core specialty of our practice, clinicians also work with a wide range of general mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, adjustment challenges, and emotional well-being.

Many of our clients seek support for chronic insomnia that is closely connected to anxiety, stress, burnout, or mood-related concerns. Treatment often begins with structured sleep-focused interventions, such as CBT-I, delivered over the first 8–10 weeks.
As treatment progresses and sleep stabilizes, clinicians frequently transition into broader therapeutic work addressing underlying psychological factors, including anxiety, stress management, depression, life transitions, and emotional well-being.
While insomnia and sleep concerns are a core focus of our practice, clinicians also provide ongoing general psychotherapy and mental health support based on each client’s evolving needs.
