Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Billing Specialist, where your expertise will drive the efficiency and accuracy of medical billing processes. In this vital role, you will manage the entire billing cycle, ensuring timely and precise reimbursement for healthcare services. Your attention to detail and knowledge of medical coding will directly impact the financial health of our organization while supporting excellent patient care. Duties

Review and interpret medical records to accurately assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10 diagnosis codes, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications for billing purposes
Prepare and submit clean claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements and regulations
Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims through effective medical collection strategies, resolving discrepancies promptly
Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities, including medical records, coding adjustments, and correspondence with payers
Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and ensure accurate coding for optimal reimbursement
Stay current with updates in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and regulatory guidelines to ensure compliance
Assist in auditing billing processes and records to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to best practices

Requirements

Proven experience in medical office settings with a strong background in medical billing and coding
Proficiency in ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, DRG classifications, and medical terminology
Familiarity with EMR systems and EHR platforms used for billing and record management
Knowledge of medical collection procedures and insurance claim submission processes
Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple claims efficiently
Ability to interpret complex medical records accurately and communicate effectively with healthcare providers and payers
Prior experience in handling medical records, billing documentation, and regulatory compliance is highly desirable
