The Accounting & Finance Manager is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and day-to-day management of Wendt's financial operations. This role oversees the accounting function, ensuring financial reporting, compliance, internal controls, and operational processes are completed accurately and consistently. By providing reliable financial information and maintaining a strong financial foundation, the Accounting & Finance Manager helps agency leadership make informed business decisions and supports the long-term success of the agency.
This role works closely with the Vice President of Development & Finance and has the opportunity to grow over time, taking on a greater role in financial planning, business insights, and supporting the long-term success of the agency.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end/year-end close
- Ensure financial transactions are accurate, timely, and compliant with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and reconciliations to ensure leadership has reliable information regarding the agency's financial position
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
- Partner with account managers overseeing project billing, client financial reporting, and account analysis
Financial Stewardship
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning
- Develop an understanding of financial performance and contribute insights that support informed business decisions
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial safeguards
- Ensure compliance with tax, reporting, licensing, and regulatory requirements
- Manage banking relationships, insurance administration, and other financial partnerships
- Coordinate annual audits, tax preparation, and regulatory reporting
Partnership, Process, and Growth
- Partner closely with the Vice President of Development & Finance to support sound financial decision making
- Collaborate with agency leadership to provide financial guidance and business insights
- Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting, workflows, and operational efficiency
- Recommend and help implement process improvements and automation that support a growing agency
- Continue developing financial leadership skills while contributing to the agency's long-term success
Key Strengths & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field preferred
- 3–5 years of accounting or financial operations experience preferred
- Experience managing core accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Working knowledge of GAAP and sound accounting principles
- Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- High level of integrity, accountability, and sound judgment

- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with agency leadership
