Full Job Description

Loveland Housing Authority (LHA) is seeking a motivated Accounts Payable Specialist to support the financial integrity and fiscal operations of a mission-driven affordable housing organization. The Accounts Payable Specialist plays a pivotal role within the Loveland Housing Authority (LHA) organization by maintaining financial records within the general operations of the accounting department. This position is assigned a wide array of accounting responsibilities such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting tasks.

This is a full-time regular non-exempt position with a hiring range of $45,400.00 to $54,500 per year depending upon experience. In addition, this position is offered a benefits package which includes health, vision, dental, and life insurance, a short- and long-term disability plan, a cafeteria plan, a generous paid time off policy, paid holidays, a 457(b)-retirement plan with employer match, and an Employee Assistance Program.

Full Job Description

Job Title: Accounts Payable Specialist

Department: Accounting

Reports To: Director of Accounting

Position Summary:

The Accounts Payable Specialist plays a pivotal role within the Loveland Housing Authority (LHA) organization by maintaining financial records within the general operations of the accounting department. This position is assigned a wide array of accounting responsibilities such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting tasks.

Essential Job Functions:

Accounts Payable Administration (25%)

Process and post accounts payable transactions accurately in the general ledger system.
Manage outgoing payments, including utility bills, maintenance agreements, and employee expense reimbursements.
Verify accounts by reconciling vendor statements, invoices, and transactions.
Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve payment discrepancies in a timely manner.

Financial Records and Compliance (25%)

Maintain detailed records of expenditures and ensure compliance with LHA policies and procedures.
Maintain financial historical records by filing and retaining accounting documentation in accordance with recordkeeping requirements.
Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and organization of accounts payable documentation.

Reporting, Audit Support, and Analysis (25%)

Collaborate with the Accounting Supervisor to prepare and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Provide expertise and supporting documentation during annual financial audits and other financial reviews.
Assist with account analysis and reconciliation activities as assigned.

Process Improvement and Departmental Support (25%)

Provide technical guidance and support related to accounts payable processes and procedures.
Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of accounts payable operations and internal controls.
Assist with special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

· Proficient understanding of generally accepted accounting standards and procedures.

· Strong mathematical skills to complete required calculations and troubleshooting.

· High degree of ethics, integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.

· Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.

· Superior customer service and negotiation skills.

· Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

· Knowledge in multiple financial accounting systems, upgrades, and implementation.

· Ability to work successfully independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

· Effective communication skills with personnel at all levels.

· Initiative, sound judgement, and decision-making abilities.

· Support the mission of the Loveland Housing Authority by demonstrating excellent customer service,

Education and/or Experience:

· Highschool Diploma/ GED

· Three years of accounts payable accounting experience preferred.

· Proficiency in Microsoft 365 software products, especially Excel, and knowledge of SharePoint is beneficial.

· An equivalent combination of relevant education and full-time experience may be considered.

Driver’s License, Background Check:

· A criminal history background check is required.

Working Environment:

Work is generally performed in an office environment that may require sitting for extended periods of time, repetitive keyboard motion, reaching, bending, and kneeling. Light physical effort may be required by moving and positioning objects up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or 10 pounds frequently. Occasionally work will be performed in the field, which may include navigating properties and inclement weather. Work is generally completed during normal office hours but may occasionally include evenings and weekends.
