Kitchen Supervisor

We serve tens of thousands of people each year in seven ministries: Marisol Services, Early Childhood Education, Shelter Services, Catholic Charities Housing, St. Raphael Counseling, Family, Kinship, and Senior Services, and Parish & Community Engagement.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Plans, prepares, and oversees the preparation, production, and serving of the daily meals at Samaritan House Greeley. Responsible for daily menu planning while working within the annual food budget. Ensures that residents, volunteers, staff, and interns receive appropriate training in all food preparation while adhering to health, safety, and hygiene standards.

Implements program objectives while overseeing kitchen staff and kitchen volunteers.
Maintains a clean kitchen and maintains a space aligned with Health Department guidelines.
Uses creativity and innovation in menu development and service delivery.
Ensures appropriate levels of inventory, including food, kitchen, and janitorial supplies, are maintained.
Ensures compliance with grantor-established guidelines and local, state, and federal regulations.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Agency’s values and policies. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Monitors the cost of required raw materials and ensures spending remains within budget.
Supports, promotes, and adheres to Catholic Charities’ vision, mission, values, and Code of Ethics.
Reflects Catholic Charities’ commitment to treating all persons with dignity and respect.
Maintains confidentiality of client and agency information.
Has regular and predictable attendance.

Requirements:

Supervision and kitchen management experience in institutional and/or restaurant setting.
Demonstrating knowledge of commercial food preparation, production, sanitation and safety standards.
Demonstrated ability to safely use commercial-grade.
Ability to effectively lead and motivate staff through the application of the agency values.
The ability to function independently and maintain self-sufficiency with minimal supervision.
Express excellent interpersonal communication skills, flexibility and willingness to shift priorities as needed.
Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office, the suite for budgeting, menu creation, and general communications.
Knowledge of the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the client population.
Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse client base.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

An equivalent of four years of related managerial kitchen experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Obtain a Serve Safe Certificate within 30 days of hire
Obtain CACFP training within 6 months of hire
Obtain TEFAP training within 60 days
Valid CO driver’s license, satisfactory driving record and proof of insurance required

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Pay: $23 per hour

Training: We provide a robust training curriculum that will support our employees throughout their careers. Extensive Paid Time Off (4 weeks accrual for new employees - increasing based on tenure) promoting work life balance.
15 Paid Holidays annually (shelters are 24/7, so if a holiday is worked, holiday pay is in included.)
Sabbatical Leave Program: Employees who have completed seven years of continuous full-time service are eligible for a paid sabbatical leave to support rest, renewal, and professional or personal growth. Eligible staff may take 4 weeks of sabbatical leave.
403b Retirement Plan with Agency contribution of 4% & match up to 2% of annual compensation.
Choice of 3 PPO Medical Plans (90% of employee's and 75% of dependent’s premiums is paid by Agency), Dental, & Vision starting the 1st day of the month following start date.
May be eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness through Federal Student Loans and many more benefits.

**Part-time employees (20-29 hours per week) also receive paid annual leave, company-paid holidays, and a 403b retirement plan with agency contribution and match.
