Summary:
As a Senior Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for ensuring that a company's buildings, infrastructure, utilities, and facility systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. The role combines engineering knowledge with maintenance, project management, and operational oversights.
Key Responsibilities:
Facility Maintenance and Reliability
- Oversee maintenance of buildings, grounds, and facility equipment.
- Ensure HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, fire protection, and other utility systems operate properly.
- Develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Troubleshoot facility-related equipment failures and coordinate repairs.
Capital Projects and Improvements
- Plan and manage facility expansion, renovation, and construction projects.
- Coordinate contractors, architects, and vendors.
- Develop project budgets, schedules, and cost estimates.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Safety and Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and local building codes.
- Support facility safety initiatives and audits.
- Manage permits and inspections.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness and business continuity plans.
Utilities and Energy Management
- Monitor utility consumption and costs.
- Identify opportunities for energy savings and sustainability improvements.
- Manage facility infrastructure such as boilers, chillers, air compressors, and water treatment systems.
Budget Management
- Develop and manage facility operating and capital budgets.
- Control maintenance and repair expenditures.
- Evaluate vendor contracts and negotiate services.
Continuous Improvement
- Implement reliability and efficiency improvements.
- Analyze facility performance metrics.
- Recommend upgrades to improve productivity, safety, and cost effectiveness.
Typical Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Civil, or Facilities Engineering.
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, commercial buildings, or construction.
- Knowledge of maintenance systems, project management, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
