Full Job Description

Acceptional Minds LLC is a family focused support and mentoring program whose primary goal is providing assistance to families affected by autism and other mental health issues through mentoring and education. As our name implies, we value Acceptance and meeting people where they are at.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting in the support of Self-Determination programs under the direction of the Director of Services/Assistant Director of Services and the Self-Determination Administrator. This position is full-time and will be required to work some evenings and Saturdays to support programing goals.

Supervisory Duties:

Provide support for staff in the Self-Determination/DVR program
Provide in-the-moment support for staff managing challenging behaviors and crisis situations
Ensure the maintenance, integrity, and organization of client notes and incident reports.
Collaborate with team members to maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment
Address and properly document disciplinary problems with team members; refer more serious cases to Human Resources, Director of Services/Assistant Director of Services, and/or Self Determination Administrator.
Models and maintains appropriate center topics and complies with internal HIPAA guidelines for staff and clients.
Be part of the On-Call team to support Saturday programing

Duties and Responsibilities:

Write and implement Self-Determination and DVR programing
Develop activities and plan outings that support programing
Train staff on programming techniques
Work directly with clients as needed to support outings and programming
Create meaningful connections in the community to support programing
Reach out to potential employers to create partnerships to enhance programming and opportunities for clients
Create connections in the community to provide meaningful programming that meets client needs and interests.
Proactively plan and schedule outings and make sure permission has been obtained, staff are prepared, transportation is set up, and follow-up is completed
Attend community outreach events to promote our Self-Determination and DVR Services
Availability evenings and occasional weekends to foster community connections and support programming.
Communicate with Client families/guardians
Review intake paperwork and communicate with families/guardians regarding onboarding to programing
Sending parent/guardian e-mails in a timely manner
Ensure daily sheets are filled out and sent home to parents/guardians
Address parental/guardian concerns at pick up
Ensure parental/guardian permission for outings
Communicate Self-Determination/DVR programming updates and information internally and externally
Prepare weekly client updates
Update staff with relevant client updates
Give relevant updates to the Supervisory Administrator
Ensure center incident reports are completed timely, accurately and communicated to the appropriate agencies.
Review Daily and Weely school updates and sent to appropriate contacts
Review and ensure monthly updates are sent to appropriate case workers.
Keeps the center clean and organized.
Ensure daily center cleaning.
Ensures resource upkeep and organization.
Follows opening and closing procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities:

Multi-faceted knowledge of behavior management and communication strategies using best practices
Familiarity with social emotional learning principles
Two or more years of lived or on the job experience with problematic behaviors preferred  
Exceptional divided attention skills  
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills 
Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate 
Strong supervisory and leadership skills  
Ability to manage themselves in order to manage conflicts and crises that occur due to lagging and lacking skills 
Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate with internal and external team members.
Strong verbal de-escalation skills
Demonstrated ability to follow Handle with Care and Ukeru guidelines
Demonstrated reliability, working scheduled shifts, and punctuality
Must be able to flex schedule to meet program needs including opening, closing, and occasional weekend needs.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow proper channels for information dissemination.
Ability to plan schedules within center ratios and adjust as needed.
Familiarity with data tracking systems
Understanding and knowledgeable on working with a diverse population of staff, clients, and their families

Certification and License Requirements:

Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
Valid Driver’s License and Auto Insurance 
CPR/AED Certification (within 90 days)  
Mental Health First Aid (within 90 days) 
Handle With Care and Ukeru (within 90 days)   
Mandated Reporter (within 90 days)  
ACES training (annually)   
Acceptional Minds’ in house, 8 week training (within 90 days)

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of standing and walking
Must be able to kneel, sit, stand, crawl, push, and pull to assist clients throughout the day
Must be able to lift up to 10lbs routinely and up to 50lbs occasionally   
Must be able to safely perform a restraint under the training and guidance of Handle With Care.
Must be able to safely perform Ukeru physical de-escalation

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year

This position will need to be flexible to rotate with the team to open and close throughout the week for Self-Determination programing (7am-7pm M-F during the school year; 8-5 during the summer, and On-Call support Saturdays during the school year) Please verify your availability to support this program and note any availability conflicts.

Employees use their personal vehicles to transport clients to outings. Please verify that you have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and auto insurance.
