Job Title: Painter Trainee
Job Description
This role offers a structured pathway to become a full-time industrial spray painter through a comprehensive 7–10 week training program. You will learn to operate an overhead crane, perform paint preparation, and support various production activities while developing strong mechanical and manufacturing skills. The position requires careful attention to quality, the ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and a commitment to working safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities

Receive a passing score on the Painter Qualification test and recertify skills as required by program guidelines.

Operate an overhead crane to maneuver parts safely and accurately into place.

Perform industrial spray painting and paint preparation tasks in accordance with quality and safety standards.

Train and work in various areas of production in response to changing production demands.

Follow verbal and written work instructions, including reading and interpreting blueprints.

Use tape measures, hand tools, power tools, and other mechanical assembly tools to complete assigned tasks.

Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with all procedures, rules, and regulations.

Work effectively in both team-based and individual settings to meet production goals.

Demonstrate consistent, reliable attendance to support production schedules.

Perform all other duties and responsibilities related to industrial spray painting and manufacturing as assigned.
Essential Skills-
Ability to pass the Painter Qualification test and maintain required certifications.

Mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn and apply mechanical concepts in a manufacturing setting.

Manufacturing experience, including familiarity with production processes and environments.

Ability to operate an overhead crane safely after training.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and follow detailed written and verbal instructions.

Proficiency using tape measures, hand tools, power tools, and basic mechanical assembly tools.

Strong attention to detail to adhere to strict quality standards.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team.

Willingness and ability to work on a fixed 2nd or 3rd shift schedule after training.

Capability to work in a hot environment and remain comfortable working in varying elements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications-
Any exposure or experience with painting, including professional work, school projects, or hobbyist painting.

Previous experience in industrial spray painting or paint preparation.

Experience in mechanical assembly or manufacturing-related roles.

Willingness to participate fully in a 7–10 week training program on 1st shift (7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.).

Interest in learning additional manufacturing skills, including welding, while working.

Comfort using a variety of manufacturing tools and equipment in a production environment.

Work Environment
The role is based in a manufacturing facility with a strong focus on production efficiency and safety. You will begin with a 7–10 week training program on 1st shift, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. After successfully passing the paint test, you will transition to a full-time painter role on either 2nd shift (3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.) or 3rd shift (11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.), with a shift differential for working these hours. The primary staffing focus is on 2nd shift, with a target headcount of 25–30 people on that shift. The environment is hot, and you must be comfortable working in the elements and around industrial equipment such as overhead cranes, spray painting systems, and mechanical assembly tools. The culture encourages both independent work and collaboration with others to meet production goals. The dress code includes jeans, steel-toe footwear, and a clean work shirt to support safety and professionalism on the production floor.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $22.75/hr.
