Job Title: Enrichment & Socialization Coach
PLEASE READ the full job description and send us a short explanation of your experience and why you're interested in working with dogs. We will only be replying to candidates that provide this.
34 hours a week, mornings and afternoons.
As an employee of Happy Tails Greenfield, you will be joining a team of open-minded, collaborative, reliable, hard working people who are extremely committed to the care and the well being of all of our daycare dogs. We are an enrichment based dog day care, so this is a unique opportunity to work with dogs differently than the traditional dog day care environment.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Professional experience in the pet care industry. Positions such as vet tech, dog walker and dog sitter all qualify as professional experience (just owning your own dog does not qualify).
- An eagerness to learn about dog behaviors, body language, group dynamics and managing sometimes challenging behaviors.
- Great physical and mental health.
- The desire to grow within the position and take on more responsibility and contribute to our always developing program.
- Have a positive, energetic, easy going attitude and desire/willingness to learn.
- Self motivated and comfortable working alone as well as on a team.
- Being comfortable with all types of dogs, both large and small
- Ability to work in a loud and sometimes overstimulating environment.
- Excellent time management skills - able to show up ready to work and on time.
- A reliable mode of transportation.
- Experience in leadership positions or dog training would be highly considered.
You will be responsible for monitoring groups of dogs, transporting them throughout the facility, cleaning and sanitizing of the facility, and much more. You will learn about dog behaviors such as body language, appropriate play, and proper sanitization protocols to keep both the dogs and employees safe. You will also learn the basic building blocks of dog training, so this is a great opportunity for those who want to become dog trainers!
As a Socialization & Enrichment Coach your day will be filled with outdoor time, engaging dogs in mental activities and basic training and food puzzles.
You will have support and guidance from an awesome team of people, as well as the opportunity to bring your dog to work with you!
This job is Monday through Friday, day time business hours. This job is not compatible with student schedules. It is a physically demanding job that requires you to be on your feet for several hours. You must be able to lift 50+lbs, work with both large and small dogs, crouch, kneel, stand for long periods of time, and be able to happily communicate with your fellow staff members.
