Full Job Description

Overview
Pay Rate Negotiable

This position is responsible supporting the Underwriters by reviewing and appraising applications for workers’ compensation insurance and handling insured and agent requests. Uses knowledge and independent judgement to determine the eligibility of risks when compared to guidelines of programs available. Communicates regularly with the Underwriting team, agents and insureds. Potential for job growth.

Essential Functions:

1. Examines and evaluates documents such as applications forms, inspection and loss control reports, product brochures, financial reports to determine degree of risk and acceptability of application for insurance.

2. Evaluates the experience of a risk against the class of business under review.

3. Evaluates loss potential due to catastrophe, severity, and/or frequency.

4. Assists agents and insureds with comments or questions about bills, applications, coverage, etc.

5. Communicates effectively (orally in writing or in person) with agents to obtain or clarify information

6. Reviews and processes requests for cancellation, endorsement, etc.

7. Reviews policies for renewal consideration

8. Requests additional documentation necessary for the processing of an application, endorsement or cancellation

9. Routinely demonstrates strong decision-making and problem-solving skills

10. Exhibits strong analytical skills with an attention to detail

11. Enters and/or researches information into computer system

12. Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality

13. Presents a professional appearance
