Full Job Description

Friedrich Metal Products is seeking a skilled Welder to join our team in Browns Summit, NC. Do you want to work for a place that is focused on continuous improvement, realizes that our welds need to be both structurally sound and look like an artist laid the bead? Do you understand how the heat distorts the sheet metal and how to prevent this distortion? As a Welder/Fabricator, you will be responsible for meeting or exceeding weld quality standards for both MIG and TIG welding. Including setup of welding equipment, fabrication, operating shop tools, maintaining mechanical strength on standardized assemblies and products, and performing day-to-day activities with little supervision.

Responsibilities:

Perform ordinary and repetitive hand welding operations, proficient welding vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions of 20GA up to 5/16 stainless steel.
Position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, or guides, with the understanding of heat distortion and how to minimize distortion in the component.
Apply appropriate math to solve welding problems: whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and geometry.
Take measurements to ensure components meet tolerance per engineering drawings, including reading tape measures and calipers.
Interpret welding symbols, abbreviations, and joint designs.
Select size and type of rod or wire appropriate for metal and welding applications.
Conduct simple maintenance and preventative maintenance on all welding equipment.

Requirements:

Level 1 Welder / 1 year of experience in welding.
High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
Ability to work an 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday, with weekend and overtime availability.
Must pass Weld Proficiency Test.
Understanding of quality requirements (weld quality and component distortion) and works to meet or exceed the baseline. Stops work if operation is below quality standards and brings the discrepancy to supervisor's attention.

Opportunities:
