The City of Greensboro Police Department is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and service-oriented professional to serve as a Department Programs Technician (Victim Advocate). This position provides meaningful support to victims and families affected by violent crime, helping them understand their rights, connect with resources, and navigate the criminal justice process. Compensation and Benefits:

Estimated Hiring Salary Range: $41,600.00 - $48,425.00 Full Salary Range: $41,600.00. - $73,176.00 Annually

Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

The department works collaboratively with detectives, criminal justice partners, community organizations, and service providers to help ensure victims receive information, resources, and support throughout the investigative process.

About the Role:

As a Department Programs Technician (Victim's Advocate), you will serve as a supportive resource for victims and families impacted by violent crime. You will help coordinate information, resources, and communication throughout the investigative process while treating every individual with dignity, empathy, and respect.

Key responsibilities include:

Coordinating with victims and families affected by violent crimes.
Providing information regarding victim rights and available services.
Connecting victims with appropriate care, community resources, and qualified family service providers.
Serving as a liaison between victims and detectives regarding case follow-up.
Providing victims with ongoing updates regarding the progress of their cases.
Coordinating case information among detectives and multiple criminal justice partners.
Responding to victims and families with professionalism, compassion, and sensitivity.
Maintaining appropriate confidentiality and exercising discretion when handling sensitive information.

The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, demonstrate empathy while maintaining professional boundaries, and manage sensitive information with discretion.

The selected candidate must obtain Division of Criminal Information (DCI) Certification from the State of North Carolina within the probationary period.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma with 1+ years of experience in victim assistance (e.g., Victim assistance experience includes crisis intervention, advocacy, emotional support, safety planning, and connecting victims to legal and social services)
Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, or a related human services field
Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Previous employment with a Law Enforcement Agency
