Job Summary
Join us as the AmeriCorps Director for the Rising Roots Community Garden Program, where you will lead a vibrant initiative dedicated to fostering community engagement, environmental stewardship, and food justice. In this dynamic role, you will oversee program operations, coordinate volunteer efforts, and build strategic partnerships to empower local residents through sustainable gardening practices. Your energetic leadership will inspire community members to cultivate healthy environments and develop valuable skills, making a tangible impact on lives and neighborhoods. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to drive social change while honing your management and community outreach expertise.

Duties

Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Rising Roots Community Garden Program, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and community needs
Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and community members involved in garden activities, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment
Manage program data using program software to track volunteer hours, donations, and outreach efforts for reporting purposes
Develop and execute social media campaigns to promote program events, successes, and community stories that highlight the garden’s impact
Coordinate recruitment initiatives to engage individuals in service opportunities related to the garden project
Facilitate public speaking engagements at community events, schools, and partner meetings to raise awareness about food justice and sustainable gardening
Oversee volunteer management processes including onboarding, training & development sessions, recognition programs, and ongoing support
Supervise staff or team members involved in program delivery, providing leadership guidance to ensure effective teamwork and project success

Skills

Proven experience with volunteer management and supervising teams in community or social work settings
Strong leadership abilities with a track record of managing projects or programs effectively
Excellent public speaking skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences confidently
Proficiency in Google workspace and ability to learn new software quickly for data management and reporting purposes
Skilled in social media management to amplify program visibility and community engagement
Experience in campus recruitment strategies to attract young volunteers or interns
Knowledge of principles focused on community development, food justice, or environmental sustainability
Effective training & development skills to empower volunteers and team members with necessary skills
Demonstrated management capabilities with a focus on fostering collaboration and achieving program goals
