Quality Manager

Location: Abbeville/Greenwood, SC Area

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead and continuously improve our Quality Management System (QMS) while driving a culture of operational excellence across the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations through effective quality assurance and quality control processes.

The Quality Manager will partner closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Customer-facing teams to improve product quality, reduce defects, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This is a key leadership position with significant impact on customer satisfaction and overall business performance.

Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Leadership & Compliance

Lead all quality assurance and quality control activities throughout the facility.
Serve as the Management Representative for the ISO 9001 Quality Management System and applicable quality certifications.
Develop, implement, and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, and product quality standards.
Ensure compliance with company, customer, regulatory, and certification requirements.
Interface with external auditors, certification bodies, UL representatives, and regulatory agencies.

Continuous Improvement

Drive continuous improvement efforts through data-driven problem solving and root cause analysis.
Partner with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to improve process capability and product quality.
Lead Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement System Analysis (MSA/R&R), Design of Experiments (DOE), and Total Quality Management initiatives.
Analyze quality metrics, defect trends, scrap rates, customer complaints, and failure modes to identify improvement opportunities.

Customer & Supplier Quality

Investigate customer complaints and lead corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Collaborate with customers and suppliers to ensure compliance with product and process specifications.
Support customer audits, quality reviews, and performance improvement initiatives.

Quality Systems & Documentation

Oversee calibration programs and quality laboratory operations.
Lead the Material Review Board (MRB) process and participate in contract review activities.
Make final quality disposition decisions for nonconforming products and materials.
Maintain accurate quality records, certifications, reports, and documentation.
Establish quality objectives and communicate performance metrics to leadership.

Required QualificationsEducation

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.

Experience

3-5+ years of quality leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
Experience managing or supporting ISO-based Quality Management Systems.
Proven experience leading quality improvement initiatives and driving measurable results.

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 standards.
Working knowledge of ISO 13485 standards.
Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and statistical analysis tools.
Experience with PPAP (Production Part Approval Process).
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office applications.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in medical device or other regulated manufacturing environments.
Experience with IQ, OQ, and PQ validation processes.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
Experience using quality management software and data analysis tools, including SQC Pack.
Familiarity with AS400 systems.
ASQ Certified Quality Manager (CMQ/OE), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or similar certification.
Experience leading internal and external audits.
Knowledge of medical device manufacturing regulations and validation requirements.
Demonstrated success improving quality performance, reducing defects, and increasing customer satisfaction.
