Are you a Director, Vocal Music Director, Tech Director, or Choreographer? We want to hear from you!

We have openings for our 26/27 productions!

Imagine Theatre is looking for experienced and passionate Artistic Team Members to join our Artistic Team General Pool!

Imagine Theatre is Clackamas County's largest youth theatre organization, and we are looking for theatre-makers, change-makers, and those passionate about supporting youth to join our team!

The ideal candidate will have a passion for youth theatre education and the ability to create an engaging and inclusive rehearsal/learning environment. The successful candidate will be able to work with youth of all levels and abilities, and will be able to guide students through the show-making process in a way that highlights their strengths. Artistic Team Members should be organized, detail-oriented, and knowledgeable in their content area.

Productions are offered on a quarterly basis of Fall, Winter & Spring. Imagine primarily produces musicals for youth, with some straight plays and adult opportunities here and there. Each term we have productions through our MainStage Program (based in Milwaukie, OR) and our Studio Program (based in Boring, OR).

We encourage all interested parties to submit their applications to discuss specific dates for each production.

26/27 Season

Fall '26 - Elf Jr. (Studio, Ages 7-18) & Willy Wonka (MainStage, Ages 7-18)
Winter '27 - Hadestown Teen Edition (Studio, teens only) & Matilda (MainStage, ages 7-18)
Spring '27 - James & The Giant Peach Jr. (Studio, Ages 7-18) & Little Women (Community Show, Ages 7+)
Summer '27 - Dear Evan Hansen (Community Show for ages 16+)

Employment Type: Contractor

Supervisor: Artistic Manager

Compensation: $1,300 - $2500 per contract, dependent on role and production.

General Qualifications:

Must have experience in working with parents/guardians, and educating youth. Must demonstrate an ability and willingness to work in a creative and positive manner with both.
Must have confidence and experience in their particular role.
Must be willing to collaborate with the team and adjust as needed based on feedback.
Demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills
Maintain good organization and time management skills.
Must support a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment at all times through action and personality.
Uphold the high artistic and behavioral standards of the company.
Ideal: Formal higher education in a relevant field or significant relevant experience.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities vary by role. Generally:

Director is responsible for artistic vision, production schedule, high level of collaboration with the team and adult volunteers, staging scenes, etc.
Vocal Music Director is responsible for teaching the youth cast the vocal music (Solos, harmonies, etc.). Piano skills highly beneficial. Sometimes responsible for running the music during shows. Music is typically canned.
Choreographer is responsible for teaching the youth cast the choreography to the songs. Dance/Choreo skills required.
Teach Director is responsible for leading the youth crew members, collaborating with the Director for technical aspects (lighting, special effects, sound, etc.), etc.

SCHEDULE:

Generally, rehearsals are Friday evenings (6pm-9pm) & Saturday mornings (9am-1pm). Some conflicts may be accommodated. All roles other than Tech Director should plan be at every rehearsal, tech rehearsal, and show. Tech Directors play a more hands on role during the last part of the production process.

General format is one weekend of auditions/callbacks, 5-8 weeks of rehearsals, and 2 weekends with 6-8 shows.

As a 6-year old non-profit organization, Imagine is in an exciting season of growth and expansion. On paper our mission is "We are a community-driven, Christ-centered organization that focuses on fostering inclusion and empowering youth & families through the theatre arts.". In action, Imagine Theatre is a progressive, fully inclusive and affirming (Pro-LGBTQIA+, justice-seeking, etc.) youth theatre (ages 7-18)
organization based in Clackamas County area. Faith components are not taught in programming.

Contractors, Teaching Artists, and youth/families in the program are NOT required to be persons-of-faith. Contractors and Teaching Artists are NOT required to lead any faith aspects in rehearsals or classes. We do ask that Contractors & Teaching Artists simply acknowledge that Imagine has faith roots serving a diverse community and that you will not take any action that undermines that.
