Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to support financial operations for our client in Stonington, Connecticut. This long-term contract role is well suited for a detail-oriented professional with strong leadership skills and a proven ability to oversee key accounting functions, enhance reporting accuracy, and ensure financial and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities will include managing month-end close activities, reviewing account reconciliations, and providing insightful financial analysis to help guide business decisions.

Responsibilities:

Lead monthly accounting close processes, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and reporting deadlines are met.
Manage general ledger activity and review journal entries to maintain complete and reliable financial records.
Prepare and analyze financial reports, identifying trends, variances, and areas requiring management attention.
Oversee account reconciliation work to confirm balances are properly supported and resolved in a timely manner.
Coordinate audit preparation and provide documentation needed for financial statement reviews and external audit requests.
Monitor adherence to accounting policies, regulatory requirements, and internal control standards within the operation.
Partner with operational and finance teams to investigate discrepancies and improve the quality of financial data
Proven experience performing month-end close responsibilities in a complex accounting environment.
Strong working knowledge of general ledger management and financial reporting practices.
Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing journal entries with a high level of accuracy.
Demonstrated ability to complete and review account reconciliations thoroughly and on schedule.
Familiarity with financial statement audits and supporting audit documentation requests.
Solid analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial results and resolve accounting issues effectively.
Excellent organizational and communication skills to manage deadlines and collaborate across teams.
