Hampton Inn Groton, an 80-room Hilton-branded hotel, is seeking an experienced, hands-on Hotel General Manager to lead the property and its team.
We are looking for a hospitality leader who takes ownership of the entire operation- guest experience, team development, financial performance, sales execution, property condition, and Hilton brand standards. Hotel Operations & Financial Performance
- Take ownership of the hotel's overall operational and financial performance.
- Achieve or exceed budgeted revenue, GOP, labor, and expense goals.
- Review and manage the hotel's P&L, departmental expenses, payroll, purchasing, and operating costs.
- Maintain appropriate staffing and labor levels based on occupancy and business demand.
- Participate in revenue management and pricing strategy to maximize occupancy, ADR, and RevPAR.
- Lead daily huddles and regular leadership meetings to keep the team aligned and accountable.
- Participate in monthly P&L reviews, budget planning, revenue meetings, and regional operations meetings.
- Prepare and complete quarterly ownership performance reports.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability without compromising the guest or associate experience.
Guest Experience & Hilton Brand Performance
- Create a hotel culture focused on genuine hospitality and exceptional service.
- Monitor guest satisfaction results, Hilton performance metrics, reviews, and guest feedback.
- Ensure guest concerns are addressed quickly, professionally, and with appropriate follow-through.
- Maintain Hilton brand standards and position the hotel for strong QA and brand inspection results.
- Conduct regular property and guest room inspections to ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation standards.
- Maintain a visible presence throughout the hotel and actively engage with guests and associates.
Leadership & Team Development
- Recruit, onboard, train, coach, and develop a strong hotel team.
- Provide clear expectations and accountability for department leaders and associates.
- Build an engaged workplace culture focused on teamwork, communication, recognition, and development.
- Ensure performance evaluations, training requirements, associate documentation, and personnel files remain current.
- Promote internal development and advancement whenever possible.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and all applicable federal and Connecticut employment and safety requirements.
- Oversee payroll processing and reconciliation.
Sales & Market Leadership
- Partner with Sales and Revenue Management to identify opportunities and grow hotel revenue.
- Maintain awareness of local demand generators, competitors, market conditions, and pricing.
- Support local sales efforts and help build relationships within the Groton/New London market.
- Represent the hotel professionally within the local business and hospitality community.
Property & Asset Management
- Maintain the hotel as if it were your own.
- Identify and prioritize preventative maintenance, repair, and capital needs.
- Develop annual Capital and Repair & Maintenance budgets.
- Coordinate approved projects with regional and corporate leadership.
- Ensure property condition, safety, cleanliness, and curb appeal consistently meet Hilton and ownership expectations.
Preferred Experience
- 2+ years of Hotel General Manager experience in a comparable select-service hotel preferred.
- Additional hotel leadership or department management experience.
- Hilton experience strongly preferred.
- Hilton General Manager certification is a plus.
- PEP experience preferred.
- Experience managing hotel P&Ls, labor, budgets, guest satisfaction, and brand performance.
- Familiarity with M3, Hilton systems/PMS, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.
- Local Groton/New London market knowledge is a plus.
A bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or a related field is preferred but not required. Proven hotel leadership experience and demonstrated results may substitute for formal education.

This is a hands-on hotel leadership position requiring schedule flexibility based on the needs of the operation. The General Manager should be available when the business requires leadership, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license in good standing and be able to perform the normal physical requirements associated with managing a hotel, including walking the property, inspecting guest rooms and operational areas, and occasionally lifting or moving items up to approximately 40 lbs.
