We’re looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to grow our Accounting Team in Ledyard, CT. This position is fulltime in the office. Responsibilities:

Prepare and process monthly invoices for government customers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual requirements.
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and yearend accounting close activities, including account reconciliations and financial reporting.
Process, reconcile, and maintain corporate credit card transactions and supporting documentation.
Prepare, review, and analyze accounting records, financial reports, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), company policies, and government contract requirements.
Review the work of team members to verify accuracy, identify discrepancies, and ensure compliance with established accounting procedures and internal controls.
Crosstrain to provide backup support for critical accounting functions, including Accounts Payable and Payroll.
Develop, maintain, and update process documentation and standard operating procedures to support operational consistency and continuous improvement.
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with internal departments to resolve accounting issues, improve processes, and support organizational objectives.
Perform other accounting and financerelated duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of five years of accounting experience with demonstrated knowledge of a variety of accounting functions and processes.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, including debits, credits, and general ledger functions.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and utilize accounting and projectbased financial systems; experience with Costpoint, Unanet, or similar software is highly desirable.
Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fastpaced environment.
Strong commitment to providing responsive and professional service to both internal and external customers.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the highest level of discretion and professionalism.
Flexibility and willingness to take on new projects and support team initiatives as business needs evolve.
